Kenny Dorham was born on 30 August 1924 in Fairfield, Texas, USA. He is known for Witness in the City (1959) and 'Round Midnight (1986). He died on 5 December 1972 in New York City, New York, USA.
Jazz bebop trumpeter of the 1940's and 50's, initially prominent with the big bands of Lionel Hampton and Dizzy Gillespie. In 1948, he took the spot of Miles Davis in Charlie Parker's quintet. With Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers from 1954 and later led own groups, notably the Jazz Prophets.
