Jim Lockhart(II)
- Composer
- Actor
- Music Department
Having earned himself a permanent place in Irish rock 'n' roll history
as a member of the legendary Horslips, Jim Lockhart turned his
attention to the media in the '80s and quickly landed a gig at RTE.
With production credits on various 2FM shows and live recordings added
to his CV, he moved over to Radio 1 in 2006 with long-time associate
Dave Fanning. Since then he has stewarded Derek Mooney's highly-popular
afternoon show, while keeping his hand in as a musician and garnering
an IFTA nomination along the way for his score for Robert Quinn's 2008
feature, "Cre na Cille". The long-anticipated Horslips reunion has been
a slow burn, via an acoustic album, an "Other Voices" session and a TG4
special. But 2009 saw the band finally make a triumphant return to the
live stage, with memorable gigs in Belfast's Odyssey and the O2 in
Dublin. The reunion has continued with recent forays to Glasgow's
Celtic Connections and London's Finsbury Feis in 2011. Jim is married
with three children.
