Olivia Colman is getting candid about a scary experience she had with paparazzi in London that led her and her family to relocate.
During her cover story interview for British Vogue, the Wonka actress also opened up about how she really feels about her growing fame and the negative things that come with it.
“We’ve moved to the countryside, and it’s lovely,” she told the publication of her husband Ed Sinclair and their three children’s move back to her home county. “It’s where I’m from. We never fell out of love with London. I love London, but it became difficult.”
When asked what became difficult, the Secret Invasion actress said, “Just arseholes standing outside your front door, following you on the school run,” adding, “I was scared. At one point, there were two cars chasing us, and I was having a sort of meltdown, terrified.

Oscar winner Olivia Colman is set to star as a fisherwoman and Dev Patel as her inanimate made-to-order husband in the twisted romance pic Wicker.
Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson will direct the indie from a script they adapted based on a short story, The Wicker Husband, by Ursula Wills-Jones. Topic Studios and Tango will finance and produce Wicker, with the cameras set to start rolling next year.
Colman will play a smelly and ridiculed fisherwoman in a seaside village where, fed up with small-minded neighbors, she commissions herself a husband to be made from wicker, who is played by Patel. Sister, the firm founded by Elisabeth Murdoch, Jane Featherstone and Stacey Snider, has taken a minority stake in UK production company Dorothy Street Pictures, we can reveal.
Dorothy Street is the non-fiction company whose slate includes Netflix’s recently announced tell-all Pamela Anderson documentary which has buy-in from the former Baywatch star.
According to the companies, the non-fiction specialist will remain fully independent but form “a unique alignment with Sister.”
The company, which comprises Julia Nottingham (Xy Chelsea) and a team of documentary filmmakers including Emmy nominated Becky Read, says the investment will help grow its slate of factual TV and feature projects as well as its scripted lineup which is led by Ariadne Kotsaki.
Dorothy Street’s first feature was the Bruce Lee doc Be Water, which played at Sundance and Cannes. The company premiered four new projects in 2021: ‘Twas the Fight Before Christmas...

“Landscapers,” the latest limited series collaboration between HBO and Sky Studios, is a thorny backyard project, sowed to the edge of overgrowth yet tended with tremendous love. Avoiding the common traps of true crime, the striking production asks audiences to consider the human beings before the headlines, deconstructing a strange little story beyond the familiar box it’s been forced into.
Take, for starters, the opening summary superimposed onscreen: “In 2014, Susan and Christopher Edwards were convicted of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in prison. To this day they maintain their innocence.”
In the annals of history, the first sentence is the beginning and end of things. But what “Landscapers” presupposes, as hinted by the delayed reveal of the second sentence, is what if it wasn’t? Director Will Sharpe and writer/creator Ed Sinclair address the joint statement’s central implication — whether Susan (Olivia Colman) and Christopher...

In the early aughts, an English couple, Christopher and Susan Edwards, were found guilty of the 1998 double homicide of Susan Edwards’ parents. However, for years after, the Edwards’ pretended the older couple was still alive, forging correspondence from them and drawing from their bank accounts. What would make people commit such acts and what really happened between the two couples is now at the center of HBO’s dramatized limited series “Landscapers” from Ed Sinclair and Will Sharpe.
Sinclair wrote all episodes and Sharpe directed them, with the two collaborating closely on how to empathetically portray memories of events that are altered slightly depending on which party is recalling them.
“The first thing we talked about was this idea of the truth and whether there is any single truth ever that you can categorically say is the main truth,” Sharpe tells Variety. “Landscapers,” he continues, displays “the different truths that...

As a genre, true crime is about applying a comprehensible narrative to horrifying acts that otherwise would be beyond comprehension. Even as the events it depicts are disturbing, the genre is comforting because it relies on a structure that allows us to process the worst of human nature and behavior.
The construction of narrative is at the heart of HBO’s four-hour limited series Landscapers. Applying modes of classic Hollywood storytelling and aesthetics, writer Ed Sinclair and director Will Sharpe use a 1998 double murder that fascinated the U.K. as a platform for a mystery and a love story. "This doesn't paint a very pretty picture, does it?" HBO has revealed the full official trailer for the 4 episode mini-series titled Landscapers, directed by the British filmmaker Will Sharpe, who also made this year's fantastic The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (one of my favorite films of the year). Supposedly based on a true story, which sounds about right, a devoted and mild-mannered couple decides to kill their spouse's parents. They only get in trouble when their bodies are found. Sharpe directs this "exploration of love and fantasy," which is created and written by screenwriter Ed Sinclair. Starring the talented Olivia Colman (who's also in this year's The Lost Daughter) and Emmy nominee David Thewlis, along with Kate O'Flynn, Dipo Ola, Samuel Anderson, David Hayman, Felicity Montagu, and Daniel Rigby. I like how many styles and looks there are in this trailer, all kinds of things going on. Did they do it?...

HBO has released the first teaser for yet another prestige limited series, which are quickly becoming the network’s bread and butter since the hits of “Big Little Lies” and “The White Lotus.” Starring Academy Award winner Olivia Colman and “Harry Potter” favorite David Thewlis, “Landscapers” is a darkly comic mystery about a seemingly ordinary married couple who become the subjects of a murder investigation after two dead bodies are discovered in their back garden. Set in the northern English city of Nottingham and inspired by real-life events, the four-part series is the creation of debut screenwriter Ed Sinclair, who also happens to be Colman’s husband.

Olivia Colman’s South Of The River Pictures and its commercial partner Sister are launching a comedy writer competition, with at least one winner getting the chance to develop a TV script with the companies.
The Screenshot initiative will be spearheaded by Debo Adebayo and will focus on comedy writer-performers from a theatre background. The aim is to help them take their work from the stage to the screen in much the same way as competition judge Phoebe Waller-Bridge did with Fleabag.
Joining Waller-Bridge on the panel will be Colman, actress Lolly Adefope, comedian Rosie Jones, BBC comedy commissioner Kate Daughton, Channel 4 head of comedy Fiona McDermott and Sky commissioner Tilusha Ghelan. Longlisted candidates will pitch their projects to the panel.
Winners will go into paid development, while shortlisted candidates will also receive a contribution towards the development or budget of their next live theatrical show. The competition is...

The queen still reigns supreme.
One year after winning the Best Actress Oscar for playing Queen Anne in The Favourite, Olivia Colman returned to the Academy Awards on Sunday night to present the prize for Best Actor.
“Winning an Oscar ages you,” Colman, 46, quipped, gesturing towards her dyed blonde hair when she took the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
Before reading the nominees, the British actress, currently starring as Queen Elizabeth in Netflix’s The Crown, reflected on her own Oscar journey.
“Thank you for having me back. It’s such a pleasure to be here,” Colman said.
