The Penguin, the upcoming Max spin-off focusing on Colin Farrell's take on classic DC Comics villain Oswald Cobblepot, is set to take place very soon after the events of Matt Reeves' The Batman, focusing on "Oz" as he attempts to establish himself as Gotham City's new crime boss.
When the series was first announced, we were told that an appearance from Batman himself was unlikely, but previous rumors have indicated that Robert Pattinson could show up as Bruce Wayne
On the latest episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider claimed that Pattinson will indeed appear - as Batman! We have no idea how substantial a role The Dark Knight will play, but wouldn't be surprised if he only featured in a single episode. Still, fans will no doubt be pleased to hear that the Caped Crusader will play even a small part in this series, and getting Pattinson involved...

No one living in Gotham City has ever known peace. In the latest teaser trailer for The Penguin, the eight-episode series premiering on Max in September, Colin Farrell’s Oswald “Oz” Cobb is hellbent on making sure they never will.
“I’m gonna tear down the empire from the inside out,” Oz promises in the clip, which picks up where 2022’s The Batman left off with the assassination of Carmine Falcone. The second teaser for the series also introduces Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone, the crime boss’ daughter who inherited his penchant for revenge.

It’s been over two years since Matt Reeves’s DC film ‘The Batman,’ starring Robert Pattinson, hit theaters. The movie garnered praise from both critics and audiences, especially for its atmospheric tone and focus on the detective skills of the Caped Crusader.
Currently, Matt Reeves is working on a sequel titled ‘The Batman – Part II,’ scheduled for release in October 2026. Before that, fans can look forward to the next installment in this crime saga: a spin-off series centered on The Penguin, with Colin Farrell returning to portray the iconic Batman villain.
Today, the second trailer for the series has been released. ‘The Penguin’ picks up a week after the events of ‘The Batman Part 1,’ with Oswald Cobb seizing the opportunity created by Carmine Falcone’s death to rise in power. Oswald will face off against Sofia Falcone, and the series, described by Farrell as “gruesome” and “dark,” promises intense drama.

Max has just released the second teaser trailer and a new poster for The Penguin. The series will premiere on the streaming platform this September, and this latest sneak peek offers us a better idea of what to expect.
Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb (a.k.a. The Penguin), the eight-episode DC Studios limited series - yes, that's how it's being branded in the press release - continues filmmaker Matt Reeves' The Batman epic crime saga that began with the 2022 movie. Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the series centres on the character played by Farrell in the film.
With Gotham City left in ruins by The Riddler's attack, Oz sees his chance to take charge of the late Carmine Falcone's criminal empire. Sal Maroni seems fine with that, though Sofia Falcone is making her own power play and unwilling to let her father's former lackey take over.
