The filmmakers befriended Peter Anton and shot the documentary over a period of eight years, during which Peter had his first major exhibition and caused controversy in his community. The film will have its December 5 premiere at Cinema Village in New York City, and will be released at the Siskel Film Center in Chicago and Arena Cinema in Los Angeles on December 11. Chicago – On Tuesday, December 1st, the Midwest Independent Film Festival will award their 2015 “Best of the Midwest” with a ceremony at Rockit Bar & Grill, 22 W. Hubbard, in Chicago. The evening will be hosted by Festival Director Mike McNamara, and nominees include the short film “Baby Mary” (directed by Kris Swanberg), plus feature films “Full Frame” (directed by Christopher Kelley), and “Anguish” (directed by Sonny Mallhi).

Factory 25 has announced its acquisition of Dan Rybicky and Aaron Wickenden's festival favorite "Almost There." Read More: Watch: Exclusive Trailer for 'Almost There,' an Unconventional Documentary About An Aging Artist The film follows the two filmmakers' discovery of "outsider" artist Peter Anton, whose rundown home houses an impressive collection of unseen and fascinating artwork. "Almost There" premiered at Doc NYC 2014 and was an audience favorite at True/False 2015 and Sheffield Doc/Fest 2015. Factory 25 and the production company Kartemquin will premiere the film theatrically on December 4 in NYC and December 11 in La.
