“Ok, I can die now.”
So said a woman seated behind The Hollywood Reporter inside Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, host of the inaugural The Netflix Slam. She had just snapped a selfie that captured superstars Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz warming up on center court over her shoulder. Sure, it was a dramatic statement but it wasn’t obscene for such an occasion. There’s no shortage of gasp-worthy moments in Sin City, and there’s no doubt many of the 9,489 seated guests could relate to the sentiment.
The Sunday afternoon showdown, the latest in Netflix’s push for live streaming events, pitted two superstar Spaniards in an exhibition match that could be one of the final few times they meet across a net. Paris, May 31 (Ians) Playing in his fourth match of the year -- and in only his third tournament -- former world No.1 Roger Federer wasted no time getting back to winning ways, defeating qualifier Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the French Open second round on Monday.
Eighth seed Federer, who won here in 2009, had undergone two knee surgeries last year and was sidelined for most of the abbreviated 2020 season. But he shook off the rust in style against Istomin to extend his head-to-head dominance over Istomin to 8-0.
World No.2 Daniil Medvedev of Russia recorded his first win at Roland Garros on his fifth attempt as he swept aside Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-3, 7-5.
Medvedev, 25, entered with a 1-3 record this year on clay. However, he comfortably overcame world No. 37 Bublik to set up a second-round clash against either American Tommy Paul or Australian Christopher O'Connell.

McKellen was spotted chilling with Maggie Smith at Wimbledon on Wednesday, watching the gentlemen’s singles quarter final match between Andy Murray and Sam Querrey.
The on-court action was fine, but the real drama happened in the royal box, where photographers captured Smith and McKellen in a full range of facial expressions — including elation, fear, disappointment, outrage, and surprise. The resulting photos are a master class in emotion from two of Britain’s most esteemed national treasures.

Andy Murray is through to the second week of Wimbledon once again as he left it late to overcome Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis 7-5 3-6 7-5 6-1 and book his place in the fourth round.
The tennis match, which broke the record of being the latest finish to a Wimbledon game, began at 19.15 and though it was made clear no play would go on after 23.00, the game finally came to a thrilling climax at 23.02.
With the sun setting on another glorious day of tennis, Murray’s task seemed slightly less daunting as he broke in the eleventh game of the first set before serving out to clinch the set 7-5. With both men hitting it well, the windy conditions wreaked havoc on the serve and Baghdatis then broke twice in the second set to even the match up at 6-3, one set apiece.
With the clock at 21.15, Wimbledon officials decided it...
