Bethesda Softworks tweeted out a link to a short Vine looping video clip today, that teases what appears to be an upcoming reveal for the company’s next project.
The teaser video (embedded below) is set to the sounds of a crackling record player, and opens up with a shot of some spinning barbed wire, before switching to quick close-up shots of spinning music record labels. The entire video goes by extremely fast, making it hard to read everything written on the record labels, but the following words are clearly seen in the screenshots posted in the gallery below; “Association Of Broadcasters”, “The Moonbeam Trio”, and “Air on the G-String” by Johann Sebastian Bach.
While the four-second teaser clip does not specifically reveal what the game could be, the presentation does give off a strong Fallout vibe. Backing up that line of thought is the fact that Fallout 3 featured a...

"The Adventures of Tintin" dominated the nominations but it was "Rango" that received the most trophies at the 10th Visual Effects Society (Ves) awards. Stan Lee received the the Lifetime Achievement Award and visual effects pioneer Douglas Trumbull received the George Melies Award. Patton Oswalt hosted the event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Antonion Banderas, Lou Ferrigno, director Chris Miller, Marc Webb, and Jennifer Yuh Nelson presented awards. But the surprise appearance by Martin Scorsese was the highlight of the evening.

The visual effects that we are seeing in movies these days are absolutely mind blowing. At this point it doesn't seem like there's any excuse for a film to have bad visual effects unless the people hired lack talent, or the studio is keeping the cash in their pockets.
There's a lot of good nomination this year such as Captain America, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Out of all of these I think that Planet of the Apes might take home the top prize, those apes were incredibly freaky looking. Weta did an amazing job with this movie, and out of all the other nominations this was the movie I was most impressed by. What are your thoughts? What movie did you think have the best visual effect in 2011?
Here's the full press release with all of the nominations:

hollywoodnews.com: Over the weekend, the Visual Effects Society announced the nominees for its 10th Annual Ves Awards ceremony, recognizing summer tentpoles (“Harry Potter,” “Captain America”) and surprise hits (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” “Hugo”) for their outstanding visual effects artistry in 23 categories of film, animation, television, commercials, special venues and video games.
“The standard of the creative work that is being considered this year is unbelievably high across all categories,” said Jeffrey A. Okun, Chair of the Visual Effects Society. “The judges faced a huge challenge because all of the work was so far above the norm. We’re honored to have the opportunity to focus the spotlight on the outstanding work that has contributed to some of the highest grossing films and broadcast projects of all time.”

The "Fallout: New Vegas" Dlc roll-out was bumping along with some highlights here and there but it had been pretty forgettable content until "Old World Blues" came around and showed them how it's done. The sci-fi-inspired Dlc pack was supremely well-made, the best of the "Fallout" downloadable content so far, and that includes any of the "Fallout 3" Dlc packs. The question remains, can the next pack, "Lonesome Road," keep that high watermark? The answer will have to wait until at least September, as the pack as been delayed.
In a post on the official Bethesda forums, "New Vegas" Senior Producer, Jason Bergman, revealed the delay:
Hi everyone,
We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won't be out this month. This isn't due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things,...

A few screens slipped out earlier this week from an accidentally posted trailer for what appears to be the next Dlc pack from Bethesda Softworks and Obsidian Entertainment for "Fallout: New Vegas." It is believed that the Dlc, titled "Honest Hearts," has something to do with New Canaan, a Utah city conceived for the aborted "Van Buren" project that would have been "Fallout 3." Perhaps in response to the leak, Bethesda senior producer Jason Bergman has stepped up with a post on the company's forums offering some information about the coming Dlc and why it's not here yet.
Well let's get the big bombshell out of the way (in case you didn't pick it up in the headline): the next Dlc pack, whatever it may be (coughHonest Heartscough), "has been complete." The reason we've not seen it yet is because the dev team has been busy working on a patch...

Until recently, I had seen "Fallout: New Vegas" on a leash. One of the developers would plop me down in a region of the map and let me explore that area, but the moment I started to venture, I was stopped. It's painful to see a "Fallout" game that way, as the franchise is so focused around exploration and discovery. Thankfully the latest press event for the game was the open, unguided experience I was hoping for. After starting the game and watching the standard "Fallout" intro, I was told to go wherever I wanted in the Nevada wastes.
Like "Fallout 3," much of the map in "Fallout: New Vegas" is inspired by real places. And although you can't play the game until October, you can visit these places with the magic of Google Maps!

If you plan on exploring the "Fallout: New Vegas" strip legally on your PC and don't have a Steam account, you'd better make some changes in your life by the time the game arrives this November. Bethesda has confirmed that PC copies will need to be activated via Steam, thereby utilizing the DRM-related protective measures come with such a move.
"Yes. 'Fallout: New Vegas' will fully utilize the Steamworks Sdk," Bethesda Softworks senior producer Jason Bergman said in a question-and-answer post on the Bethesda Softworks Forums. "This means that retail PC copies will activate via Steam. We are also using Steam for achievements and other features (but not multiplayer, of course. Fnv remains a single player only game)."
At first glance, this doesn't look like it will be a huge issue for PC gamers. At the very least it doesn't sound like they'll be going to the lengths that "Assassin's...

The second annual Streamy Awards were held in Los Angeles this weekend. With FEARnet's own Fear Clinic nominated for a slew of awards, we were of course eager to check them out. While Robert Englund didn't win best actor in a dramatic role, Fear Clinic did score wins for best sound design (Kunal Rajan) and best visual effects (Jason M. Bergman, Nicholas Onstad, Bethany Pederson, and David Dang). The only other genre show to win was Compulsions, which won for best writing in a dramatic web series. Englund and his Fear Clinic co-star, Danielle Harris, were on hand to present the award for best director in a dramatic web series. Englund offered to give Harris a screen test right there on stage. Her...
