Production on the show will begin later this month in Portland, Ore., where the next season of “Top Chef” has been filming under Covid-19 protocols. “Top Chef Amateurs” will be produced in a similar production bubble, and will premiere next year.

When the Emmys decided to add a category for reality competition shows back in 2003, they could have just dubbed it the “Amazing Race” Award. CBS’s sprint around the world managed to win the category seven times in a row. But the streak for the physically challenging globe-hopping entry finally hit a roadblock in the form of Bravo’s reality cooking contest “Top Chef,” which had lost its first three nominations but finally claimed the trophy for its sixth season in 2010. Watch the flashback video above from 10 years ago when the show collected its prize on the air.

“Restaurant Wars” ended in an upset last week on “Top Chef.” The team led by Gregory Gourdet was full of underdogs who have frequently landed at the bottom with the judges: Lee Anne Wong, Stephanie Cmar and Brian Malarkey. But they nevertheless won that pivotal challenge. But does that mean it’ll be smooth sailing ffor them tonight in episode nine of the cooking competition? Not according to the “Top Chef” fans who have placed their bets here in our predictions center.

“You’ve got to be kidding me. I don’t know that I have any gas left in my tank. I’m pretty tired, I’m pretty over it. So I guess we’ll just have to see,” said Karen Akunowicz after “Top Chef” host Padma Lakshmi announced that she’d fight for her culinary life in “Last Chance Kitchen” immediately after she was double-eliminated with best friend Nini Nguyen. And it turned out to be a grueling marathon for the cheftestants, so much so that it was split into two parts. Watch part one above, and scroll down for the conclusion.

On last week’s episode of “Top Chef,” Season 6 and 8 competitor Jennifer Carroll failed to tickle the taste buds of the judges with her Sunny Lemon Ginger Love sauce. On nearly every TV reality competition show, there is one contestant who is a bit of an annoyance and not exactly a team player. On the current All-Star season of “Top Chef” that includes finalists, fan favorites and front-runners from past seasons who never won, there is an air of professionalism and camaraderie shared among the players — save for one.

“I’m definitely playing hard to win this time around. I’m from Philly, so I’m like the Rocky of ‘Top Chef.’ Rocky keeps coming back, he keeps fighting. Three male cheftestants have been eliminated from “Top Chef: All-Stars L.A.” so far — Joe Sasto, Angelo Sosa and Jamie Lynch — but it looks like a woman will be on the chopping block in week four when the competitors have to make vegetarian dishes for the judges. That’s according to our racetrack odds, which are based on the combined forecasts of “Top Chef” fans who have placed their bets here in our predictions center.
As of this writing Lisa Fernandes gets leading odds of 37/10 of being eliminated. She previously competed on the show in season four, when she was a runner-up but landed at the bottom seven times in a row before the finale. She’s been doing alright in season 17, though, advancing safely through all three elimination challenges so far.

Ever want to set sail with some of the best chef-testants from Bravo's "Top Chef"? We can't say the idea has ever occurred to us, but it sounds like fun.
"Top Chef: The Cruise" is scheduled for April 11-15 and they've just added a quartet of major names to the guest list: "Top Chef All Stars" winner Richard Blais, "Top Chef Just Desserts" season one winner Yigit Pura, "Top Chef: Texas" winner Paul Qui, and "Fan Favorite" winner Fabio Viviani. They'll join "Top Chef" hosts Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons, along with 11 more alums.
Among the highlights scheduled for the cruise: behind-the-scenes kitchen tours, the opportunity to participate in live Quickfire challenges, a Q&A session with the chef-lebrities and (what sounds like the standout to us) an evening dance party hosted by DJ and Top Chef Master Hubert Keller. Additional names include Jennifer Carroll and Spike Mendelsohn, who...

In one of the most logical TV tie-ins ever, "Top Chef" is setting sail! Bravo has announced an official "Top Chef" cruise featuring judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons and former cheftestants like Spike Mendelsohn, Angelo Sosa and Jennifer Carroll, who will travel from Miami to Mexico in April 2013.

We all know the best (and worst) part of a cruise is the non-stop gourmet food, so to take such awesome chefs on board for cooking demos, Quickfire challenges, "Top Chef" menus and more "Tc"-related events, according to topchefthecruise.com, makes total sense.
You can buy tickets starting Aug. 16 ranging in price from $699 to $5,999 (that's what a penthouse suite with veranda will set you back). So far, Mendelsohn, Sosa, Carroll, Hubert Keller, Tim Love, Tiffany Derry, Chris Hanmer, Michael Isabella, Hosea Rosenberg and Casey Thopmpson have all signed on, but the cruise's website promises many more to come.

On Wednesday's edition of Top Chef, Jennifer Carroll didn't handle criticism from the judges well.
Now that she's been sent home, does the 35-year regret her behavior? Let's find out, courtesy of an interview she gave TV Guide this week, soon after her elimination.
Was she too harsh to the judges?
I definitely think my aggressiveness was coming through and it was a little harsh. After I said those words to the judges, I was like, "Oh no, I can't believe that just came out of my mouth." But, hey, I was fighting for myself and my passion was shining through, whether I wanted it to or not.
Would she do her dish over?
I would take a couple more minutes to conceptualize the dish and I probably would have added a seafood element in there for a surf-and-turf kind of thing. But I still think my dish was good and had good flavors.

Jennifer Carroll wasn't exactly on her best behavior when she shot this week's episode of Top Chef All-Stars. The Philadelphia-based chef not only mouthed off to the judges when they criticized her breakfast dish, but… After she was given the boot, she was heard off camera spewing a bleeped-out tirade. I caught up with Carroll earlier today to talk about her elimination, all that cussing and spending time with Joe Jonas. I'm sure I'm not the first person to say they were shocked to see you go so soon. So what happened? I think the T-Rex was channeling through me that day. What happened? I don't know. I don't know. Wasn't my day. Do you think you...

Top Chef: All-Stars contestant Jennifer Carroll wasn't happy with the judges' critique of her pork-and-egg breakfast dish. On Wednesday's episode, the Season 6 alum shocked viewers — as well as her fellow cheftestants — by dismissing the judges' complaints and displaying an endless array of flippant facial expressions. Looking back at the situation, Carroll says even though she wanted to fight for her dish, her aggressiveness was a little harsh. See what else she said about her unusual emotional state and what she really meant by her comments about Jamie. ...

Top Chef All-Stars is off to a strong start, and had its first controversial elimination and first freak-out last night, during an episode that guest starred Joe Jonas and season one host Katie Lee Joel, who had an even more bland personality than she did seven seasons ago, if you can call doing nothing with a blank stare a personality. Jennifer Carroll, who was nearly a finalist on the Las Vegas season, was eliminated. And...

"Top Chef: All-Stars" had their "Night at the Museum" Wednesday (Dec. 8) with decidedly less monkeys or Ben Stiller, but the chefs made up for it with a primate-friendly parfait and an intensely angry contestant.
Spoilers! Eat your veggies first.
We're going to cut to the end for a moment and just react: Wow! What in the world happened to Jennifer Carroll? It's one thing to feel passionately about your dish, but whence came this humongous potato chip on her shoulder?
For those who may or may not recall, Jen was on the stellar sixth season of "Top Chef" set in Vegas, was in the Top 4 and just missed making it to the finals after her "crush party" victuals at Napa were deemed un-crushworthy. You rooted for them over the years - and now 18 chefs were back and ready to taste redemption on Top Chef: All-Stars, which began Wednesday night. Of the Top Chef hopefuls this go-around, producers selected an array of personalities - from villains (season 2's Marcel Vigneron) to comic relief (season 5's Fabio Viviani) and fan favorites (like season 5's Carla Hall and season 7's Tiffany Derry) - to make sure the competition is anything but bland. Add to that mix guest judge Anthony Bourdain, whose prickly personality, sharp way with words and exacting palate will hold the chefs up to the highest of standards.

The returning chef'testants joining "Top Chef: All Stars," which premieres Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 10 p.m. Et, will see another familiar face joining the Judges Table: Anthony Bourdain.
The "No Reservations" host's regular presence is just one of the many bonuses "Top Chef" fans can expect for this eighth season, in addition to the return of favorite culinary competitors: Season 1 - Stephen Asprinio, Tiffani Faison; Season 2 - Elia Aboumrad, Marcel Vigneron; Season 3 - Dale Levitski, Casey Thompson, Tre Wilcox; Season 4 - Richard Blais, Antonia Lofaso, Spike Mendelsohn, Dale Talde; Season 5 - Carla Hall, Jamie Lauren, Fabio Viviani; Season 6 - Jennifer Carroll, Mike Isabella; and Season 7 - Tiffany Derry and Angelo Sosa.

Longtime readers know that I am obsessed with Bravo's culinary competition series Top Chef, but also that I've been disheartened by the last season (and the trainwreck that was Top Chef: Just Desserts), so there was a lot on the line for tonight's season premiere of Top Chef: All-Stars, which reunites some of the fiercest competitors ever seen on the series for another shot at the title. Arriving as it does on the heels of Top Chef: Just Desserts, there hasn't been a lot of time to regain one's appetite for the franchise, thanks to a schedule that now sees three iterations of the Top Chef formula airing basically year-round. Which might be a recipe for brand awareness, but it doesn't quite keep the franchise at its freshest. Last season, which saw the competition move to Washington D.C., might is regarded by many as the worst season to date,...

Gail Simmons hosted the Food and Wine All-Star Weekend Nov. 5 through 7 in Las Vegas. The event was put on by Food and Wine magazine, the Bellagio and MGM Grand Resorts.
The weekend was filled with several fun events that, of course, involved food and wine. The weekend's kick-off on Friday, Nov. 5 started with a red carpet at the Vdara hotel where Simmons and "Top Chef" alumni, including Carla Hall, Hosea Rosenberg, Fabio Viviani, Jennifer Carroll and Stephen Hopcraft, and several top chefs in Vegas, including Rick Moonen, Julian Serrano, Hubert Keller and Shawn McClain. After posing for pictures, Simmons went inside Bar Vdara to host the kick-off party with passed appetizers, a carving station that served lamb sandwiched in Naan, and cocktails. An after-party at Deuces Lounge in the Aria hotel, also within City Center, followed.
Simmons told me how "Top Chef: Just Desserts" came about at the red carpet.

Last night, during Bravo's Top Chef reunion special, the cabler finally took the wraps off of one of television's worst-kept secrets: that next season of Top Chef would be an all-stars edition that would bring back 18 former contestants to battle it out for another chance at the title. Top Chef All-Stars will launch December 1st at 10 pm Et/Pt and will feature the return of Anthony Bourdain as well, as he segues from guest judge to full-on regular judge. Call it sweet justice for us fans, but after a snooze-worthy seventh season of Top Chef, the cooking competition is returning Dec. 1 (10 p.m.) for an All-Stars edition in New York City with some of our favorite past contestants, including Richard Blais (season 4), Fabio Viviani (season 5), Jennifer Carroll (season 6) and — the one I’m most excited about — Carla Hall (season 5). Judging by the full roster, Bravo went for talent in the kitchen as opposed to talent for drama, so expect a nail-biter of a season. Check out the complete list of 18 cheftestants who’ll duke it out:

After seven seasons, "Top Chef" tries to revamp it up with an All-Stars edition. 18 faces from previous seasons are brought back to the kitchen to fight each other and win the title of the ultimate Top Chef. The first look of who these great talents are has been released by TV Guide.
From season 1, there are Tiffani Faison and Steven Asprinio, the former of which almost won the competition against winner Harold Dieterle. Second season's personality Marcel Vigneron will join his former peer Elia Aboumrad. From season 3, Casey Thompson and Dale Levitski would put their friendship to rest for a battle in the kitchen against Texan Tre Wilcox.
Richard Blais from season 4 is reunited with Antonia Lofaso, Spike Mendelsohn and Dale Talde while fan favorite Fabio Viviani from season 5 is taking a second chance along with Jamie Lauren and Carla Hall. Representing 6th season are Jennifer Carroll and Mike Isabella...

The rumors are true. So if the "Top Chef: DC" finale annoyed you as much as it did most everyone else, you'll be pretty thrilled to know that the next season of Bravo's culinary competition is bringing back your favorite alums from the first seven outings.

Some Bravolebrities will be giving their own take on The Kentucky Derby with 'Ladies First: Bravo At The Kentucky Derby' live Friday, April 30 at 5 p.m.
The one-hour special, produced by NBC Sports and hosted by Bravo's Andy Cohen, will give you the network's spin on The Derby: food, fashion and the "celebrity experience."
Live from Churchill Downs, here are a few things you can expect on the special:
"The Real Housewives of New Jersey's" Dina Manzo and "Flipping Out's" Jeff Lewis and Jenni Pulos join Cohen to celebrate a day covering the fashion and festivities of the big race.
"The Fashion Show's" Isaac Mizrahi dresses "Today" show correspondent Natalie Morales for the festivities.
"Top Chef" stars Michael Voltaggio, Jennifer Carroll and Eli Kirshtein will be cooking live from the Infield Club.
Sounds like our type of Kentucky Derby!
Will you be saddling up with the Bravo stars?...

For a season that pitted brothers against each other and James Beard nominees against chefs who worked with culinary masters, Wednesday's Top Chef finale kept the drama relatively at bay, highlighting three talented chefs -- Bryan and Michael Voltaggio and Kevin Gillespie -- and their exceptional, interesting food. That is until the show's emotional final moments. Only one could win, and up until the final courses were served for a who’s who of culinary professionals, it looked like fan favorite Kevin may go all the way. But the Atlanta-native fell short despite his strong start, paving the way for...

We are So Excited for the final episode! Vote for who you think will win!
Will it be Kevin Gillespie, Michael Voltaggio, or Bryan Voltaggio who takes home $100,000 tonight?
These three finalists have braised, broiled and ballantined their way to the last round of an unforgettable season of “Top Chef.” Over the last few months, their strengths and weaknesses have been picked apart by judges and fellow contestants: Kevin’s food has been called “simple” by some, but the judges usually say that it simply “tastes the best.” The Voltaggio brothers Bryan and Michael both have lofty visions and outstanding technical skills, but each have had problems translating ideas to finished plates.
At this point: it’s anyone’s game.
We will really miss Jennifer Carroll tonight. The last contestant to go, Jennifer made wonderful food–and it’s too bad that no ladies are competing in the final round.

Only three chefs remain. With the season finale of Top Chef: Las Vegas set to air tonight, I'm curious to see just who you think will walk away the ultimate victor of this season of Bravo's deliciously addictive culinary competition series. (I'm still bummed that Jennifer Carroll is out of the running, however. Sigh.) Personally, my money is on Kevin. He's proven himself more than capable of not only dealing with the intense pressure of the competition but also staying true to his culinary ethos and style and his deceptively "simple" dishes have wowed the judges and diners alike throughout the course of the season. Of course, Bryan and Michael Voltaggio are both extremely talented competitors and either of them could create the winning dish. But I have a feeling that the sibling rivalry that's marked the competition so far could be their ultimate undoing. Will the Voltaggios cancel each other out?...

A goat cheese dish that was too salty proved to be the downfall for Jennifer Carroll on her quest to barge into this season's Top Chef all-male final three. The Philadelphia-native, for her part, said that other than the little mistakes along the way, she has no regrets overall.

It's the editing, cries Jennifer Carroll in reference to accusations that she may have had a thing for one of the V brothers on Top Chef. The 33-year-old who was eliminated just shy of a place on the final three tells E! Online that it was all a "joke."
