Kochi, Oct 17: Malayalam directors Ashiq Abu and Anwar Rasheed will be honoured with the Mohan Raghavan Award for their films "22 Female Kottayam" and "Usthad Hotel", respectively.
The award includes a cash prize of Rs.25,000, a citation and a statuette.
John Paul, head of the jury, announced the award in a press meet at Kochi Tuesday. Both the directors will receive the award from Ganesh Kumar, former actor and currently Minister for Forests & Environment, Sports and Cinema in Kerala.

Do Dooni Chaar may be off the theatres now, but it is one film that is still going strong at the festival circuits. After earning Rishi Kapoor some rave reviews locally, the film is going great guns at the international shores as well. The recent 'update' on the film is that Rishi Kapoor picked up the Best Actor Award at the 2011 New York Indian Film Festival, which was held at Jumeirah Essex House recently. An elated Rishi said that he is really thankful and honored to be selected among the usual festival luminaries per se. He also added that a commercial actor is seldom recognized for his skills and that his award was dedicated to the whole Do Dooni Chaar family. Meanwhile, Aparna Sen picked up the Best Director award while Konkona Sen Sharma got the Best Actress award for Bengali film Iti Mrinalini and Mohan Raghavan's Malayalam film T.

Capping off five days of Indian cinematic excellence, the 11th Annual New York Indian Film Festival came to a close in grand fashion on May 8 with the spectacular Closing Night red carpet premiere of Rituparno Ghosh's powerful film Noukadubi which was attended by Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh Kapoor, Salman Rushdie, Mira Nair, Aparna Sen, Madhur Jaffrey, Ambassador Prakash Shah, Consul General Prabhu Dayal, and many other notable celebrities. Following the premiere at Asia Society in Manhattan was the festival's annual awards ceremony. The winners are listed below.

Sthaniya Sambaad (Spring in the Colony) directed by Arjun Gourisaria & Moinak Biswas was declared the Best Feature Film at the 11th New York Indian Film Festival which concluded recently. Abhay Kumar’s Just That Sort of a Day won the Best Short Film while Bhopali by Max Carlson was adjudged the Best Documentary.

Hema Malini has much reason to celebrate as her movie, Tell Me Oh Khuda which was launched on her daughter Esha Deol's birthday (November 2) is complete. The shoot was wrapped up 355 days later according to Malini's cousin, Mohan Raghavan who is co-producer of the film. This film, said to be Esha's comeback, is a milestone for the family as it will be the first time she will share screen space with her father, Darmendra who plays her reel-life father.
Mohan told Times of India, "This is a very big film and essaying this role was a pleasure for Esha. She has done most of her stunts and action scenes herself. The film has some fantastic scenes in some of the most picturesque locales – we have shot in Turkey, Goa, Rajasthan and more," says Mohan.
Tell Me Oh Khuda is the story of Esha's character who goes in search of her biological parents.

Esha Deol has said that she is ready to re-enter the film industry. The commercially unsuccessful actress, who is the daughter of veteran star Hema Malini, has completed shooting on Tell Me Oh Khuda.
