In March 1973, Merle Haggard and the Strangers released a new single called “The Emptiest Arms in the World,” a boozy, forlorn honky-tonk ballad from the soon-to-be-released I Love Dixie Blues LP. The country song’s lonely main character, however, might well have been positively giddy compared to the actual country’s beleaguered leader. President Richard Nixon was at an all-time high 67% approval rating at the time of his inauguration. But with the Watergate scandal dominating national news, Nixon’s numbers soon went into freefall — and never recovered.

Showtime’s “Ray Donovan” has cast Pasha Lychnikoff in a recurring role, TheWrap has learned. He’ll play Ivan Belikov, a Russian gangster wanted by the L.A.P.D. Last season, Ray (Liev Schreiber) learned that clean slates are a dirty business, but what doesn’t kill a Donovan only makes him stronger. Those are Showtime’s words, if our readers couldn’t have guessed. So are these: One thing’s for sure, whether you’re with him or against him — it may be a new day, but it’s the same Ray. To mark the occasion, Dread Central had the opportunity to briefly chat with Bauer about how his life-long fandom for the Universal Monsters led to his involvement with Werewolf as well as more on his experiences shooting in Transylvania and how one small eye patch caused so many problems on set.

Remember that period, months after the release of Universal's remake of The Wolfman, there were rumblings of a direct-to-dvd sequel? While, yes, there was in fact a werewolf project in development, it had no connection to the redo whatsoever.
Instead, Universal birthed an all-new tale of lycanthropy entitled Werewolf: The Beast Among Us and it's making its way to Blu-ray, DVD and digital download on October 9th.
Louis Morneau (Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting) directs this endeavor which stars Stephen Rea, Steven Bauer, Ed Quinn, Nia Peeples, Guy Wilson, Adam Croasdell and Rachel Dipillo.

Universal Pictures has officially started on production for a new untitled Wolfman movie that will go straight to DVD and Blu-ray. The new werewolf thriller is set to be released on on Halloween of next year 2012. Even though it wont be coming to the big screen there's no way it could be any worse than Universal's last Wolfman film, which was a giant werewolf turd. I was so disappointed in that film. This new movie will in no way be connected with the latter, so it's something that might be worth looking forward to, if your into these kinds of horror films like myself.

Back in June it was first rumored Universal was looking to re-write and rework Michael Tabb's would-be sequel to the failed 2010 effort The Wolfman starring Benicio del Toro and directed by Joe Johnston into a new werewolf franchise. A month later, Moviehole reported Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead, The Hitcher: I've Been Waiting and Carnosaur 2 helmer Louis Morneau would direct for a fall shoot. Now, it has become a reality as Universal announced the start of production on what they describe as an "all-new supernatural Untitled Werewolf Thriller" with Morneau directing. Filming will take place in and around Bucharest, Romania and the film won't be heading to theaters as the studio confirms it will be part of their DVD Originals line alongside such titles as The Scorpion King: Rise of a Warrior and the upcoming January release of [amazon asin="B005TK0WG8" text="The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption"] starring Ron Perlman and Billy Zane. Leave it to Universal Pictures to make an announcement on Halloween about a new werewolf movie they've got cooking. While the company known for giving us Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman and The Creature From the Black Lagoon, amongst many other monster movies, has a new lycanthrope film in development, it doesn't have an official title just yet.
Untitled Werewolf Thriller is the working description for the movie. It will also bypass theatrical release and instead head directly for home video, arriving in time for watching during the Halloween season of 2012. Shooting has already started in and around Bucharest, Hungary.
The movie stars Stephen Rea (V For Vendetta, The Crying Game), Steven Bauer (Scarface), Ed Quinn (True Blood, Eureka), Nia Peeples (Pretty Little Liars), Guy Wilson (Almost Kings), Adam Croasdell (Supernatural) and Rachel Dipillo (Law & Order). The Untitled Werewolf Thriller movie is being directed by Louis Morneau (Joy Ride II) from a screenplay by Michael Tabb.

This summer we started to hear rumblings that Universal was prepping a new Wolfman movie [1], and that this might essentially be a reboot of the character, and one that acts like the recent The Wolfman, starring Benicio Del Toro, didn't happen. Those reports were partially correct. Roger Corman veteran Louis Morneau (Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead; The Hitcher II: I’ve Been Waiting; Bats), tipped as the director for this project [2] a few months back, started production today on a film called, for now, Untitled Werewolf Thriller. Stephen Rea, Steven Bauer, Ed Quinn, Nia Peeples, Guy Wilson, Adam Croasdell and Rachel Dipillo are in the cast. But this won't be a theatrical release; this one is a Blu-ray and DVD-only affair that will arrive in time for Halloween 2012. Here's a big chunk o' press release to give you many of the details: There’s no safe place to hide as...
