Nation is a native of Oklahoma City. Lived in the area until 2005 when we graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with his Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. He would then move on to the Dallas area and begin a career in News Production, starting as a studio operator for the local CBS affiliate in Sherman Texas. Within 6 months Nation had been promoted 3 times to Associate Technical Director. After 2 years, he would then become the youngest Technical Director in a major market, moving to a DFW station. While he no longer holds that record, he felt honored for the station and his peers to have that kind of faith in him.
After the parent company that owned his station declared bankruptcy and he was laid off, Nation decided to change the focus of his career and get out of news. After a short stint managing a small film department for a local production company, he went into the freelance world, starting his own company, Next Day Rising.
For the next 2 years, Nation would take odd jobs that came his way as he tried to get a handle on this new way of life, then fate would intervene as a new reality show called "On The Road with Austin & Santino" was hiring Production Assistants for the pilot episode, which was being shot in the small rural town he grew up in. He applied and they brought him on. After the week of shooting was over, the UPM and EP were so impressed that they brought Nation on for the rest of the first season of the show.
He would work as a PA for about a year more, doing shows like Top Chef, American Idol, X Factor, and more, then Nation moved on to Authentic Entertainment where he worked a Field Coordinator for over a year, primarily on Toddler & Tiaras.
Nation and Authentic would part ways in 2012 when he took a sabbatical after his father passed. When he returned to the industry, it was to his first love, the camera department.
Shortly after, Nation made the discovery of the DIT position on show "Football Fanatic", and everything just clicked. This is the position tailor-made for him. Since that time he has amassed around 100 DIT credits across Features, Documentaries, Episodic Television, Reality, and Commercials.
