- Recently hailed by the Toronto Star as part of the Reelworld festival's "the next big names of tomorrow" Ivan Madeira's debut feature Pattern (2022) has played at Reelworld where he won Outstanding Feature Film Producer. The film also played at the Montreal International Black Film Festival and will play the 2022 British Urban Film Festival (BUFF) in November.
Ivan has been working as an independent filmmaker since 2009, with his first dramatic short film Grow Up (2011) becoming his entry into the scene. Organisation CALM officially supported the film, which led it being featured at BUFF, Cannes Short Film Corner, several other festivals and on UK television (BBC iPlayer, Together TV). He went on to direct several other shorts and documentaries featuring in festivals as well as music videos campaigns for charities including VSO and Ricefield Collective.
He's also keen in developing talent within the industry. He worked on an initial schools programme he co-founded, enabling school children between the ages of 6-11 classes to make films from idea to a finished film played at their school. Guest speakers included Jonathan Glazer (Dir: Sexy Beast, Under My Skin).- IMDb Mini Biography By: A.M. Crompton
