Colin Jost, a guy who must have learned to catch a wave on the shores of his native Staten Island, is joining NBC’s Olympic coverage as a surfing analyst. Cowabunga?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Weekend Update anchor will travel to the South Pacific to interview athletes and preview the waves, leaving the actual commentary and play-by-play to, you know, sportscasters. Their names are Joe Turpel and Michael Parsons, two guys who’ve only spent a lifetime preparing for an opportunity to ask Colin Jost questions about gnarly conditions at the beach.
Ready for the corporate PR speak? “Colin Jost hit the NBC Sports jackpot with an epic assignment covering surfing in Tahiti for the Paris Olympics,” read a press release masquerading as Molly Solomon, executive producer for NBC’s Olympics coverage. “Although the setting is a little different than the ‘Weekend Update’ desk in Studio 8H, Colin,...

Colleen Kilpatrick’s Collective Publicity has tapped Hiltzik Strategies’ Nicole Dukoff as associate director at the PR firm.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on April 5 with episode 14 on MTV. Airing concurrently with the main show is its tea-spilling, backstage-focused sister series “Untucked,” now in its 15th season. For this week’s challenge, the final four, referred to as the semi-finalists, developed concepts for a memoir, wrote stories about their lives and then presented those ideas to Matt Rogers in a live podcast interview.
After critiques from the judges, Sapphira Cristál, Plane Jane, Q and Nymphia Wind made their way to the “Untucked Lounge” where Jane and Q were convinced that they were the bottom two. Both girls could not look beyond the negative comments they received from the judges on stage. Jane knew that she didn’t show enough vulnerability in her podcast and Q was disappointed that she didn’t deliver a better look for her book cover photo shoot. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 16 continued on April 5 with the fourteenth episode in RuPaul’s quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” Previously in episode 13, Sapphira Cristál found herself vulnerable to elimination for the first time in the competition after serving up the judges’ least favorite “family resemblance” in the drag makeover challenge. In the Lip Sync for Your Life, her track record proved too impressive for Morphine Love Dion, lip syncing for the fourth time, to overcome.
Seated at the judges’ dais this week for episode 14 titled “Booked & Blessed” was Emmy winning host RuPaul Charles, longtime bestie Michelle Visage, recurring judge Ts Madison, and journalist Ronan Farrow as the special guest judge.
The queens still vying for the crown are: Nymphia Wind, Plane Jane, Q, and Sapphira Cristál.
Check out our full recap of episode 14 below:

The Las Culturistas Culture Awards, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, is moving to the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn for its third annual show satirizing and celebrating moments in culture that could only be dreamt up on their podcast.
The ceremony, which will take place June 15, typically consists of 100 categories brainstormed by Yang and Rogers, with some mainstays including record of the year and the Cate Blanchett award for good acting. The “fake awards show” is meant to poke fun at the big awards shows of the year and has included musical performances, celebrity appearances and video acceptance speeches from the likes of Blanchett (a winner in her own category) and Taylor Swift (a two-time winner, including in the category of Best Taylor Swift).
As for whether Swift could be a participant in this year’s ceremony, Rogers and Yang are leaving the option open.

In a preview for an episode of Vanderpump Rules, Ariana Madix revealed that she struggled financially before and after Scandoval. She sees how the internet made it seem as though she made a ton of money off of the affair, but she indeed did not. A lot of her money ended up going towards the house she owns with Tom Sandoval. It makes more sense now that she would fight so hard over the house, she spent most of her money on. Even then, it was before the affair became public and she did not make as much money as people think.
Ariana Madix Excels Without Tom Sandoval
Ariana Madix gained a lot of opportunities after it became public that her long-time boyfriend cheated on her. She got to be on Dancing With The Stars where she made it to the finale but did not get to take the Mirrorball home.

Comedian Matt Rogers won big on the most recent episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, but he faced backlash from fans after an old clip resurfaced where he once slammed the show and its host, Pat Sajak. The clip, from Rogers’ iHeart Radio podcast Las Culturistas, went viral following the New York native’s impressive win on last Wednesday’s (December 13) episode of Wheel. Rogers bagged a massive $260,650 for charity in a decisive victory against Paula Abdul and comedian/actor Lil Rel Howery. In the clip, Rogers tells his co-host, Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live), that Wheel of Fortune is a “stupid,” “boring” show with “no skill involved.” The rant was from a 2021 episode and part of the podcast’s regular “I Don’t Think So, Honey” segment, where the hosts and their guests are given 60 seconds to sound off about frustrating cultural phenomenons. At least one auld acquaintance won’t be present for CNN’s annual coverage of the nation’s New Year’s Eve festivities.
Sara Sidner and Cari Champion will take over the Warner Bros. Discovery network’s wee-hours broadcast on New Year’s Eve, holding forth from Austin, Texas, during a slot that for years served as a showcase for raucous antics from Don Lemon. Lemon and CNN parted ways earlier this year after management tried to move him from a prominent primetime show to the network’s morning program.
Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen will return as hosts of CNN’s main coverage of the evening. The broadcast will feature performances by Enrique Iglesias, Maroon 5, Jonas Brothers, Flo Rida, Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker and Rod Stewart and live interviews with Patti Labelle, Jeremy Renner, Neil Patrick Harris, Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.

Stefon Zelesky — movie star?
Seth Meyers said this week that a movie based on Bill Hader’s popular Saturday Night Live character was discussed but scrubbed, leaving the club kid who appeared on the late-night staple often from 2008-13, and a couple of times after, to linger only in fans’ memory. And YouTube (see below).
In an interview for Las Culturistas, the podcast hosted by comic actor Matt Rogers and SNL‘s Bowen Yang, the Late Night host said he would have had a small part in the pic but that his “Weekend Update” anchor would have died early on — after a long night of partying with Stefon. So someone else would have had to co-star.
“There was a moment in time where the idea of a Stefon script was being discussed,” he said. “This was not a scene that was written, but I did have a pitch for myself...

A prospective movie spinoff for Bill Hader’s Saturday Night Live character of Stefon would have opened with a killer twist.

Seth Meyers has revealed that a potential movie about Bill Hader’s fan-favorite Saturday Night Live persona Stefon never got made.
During a recent appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast, he told hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers that “there was a moment in time where the idea of a ‘Stefon’ script was being discussed.”
He added, “This was not a scene that was written, but I did have a pitch for myself and Stefon, because I knew it was going to be Stefon and James Franco, or whatever, whoever. It wasn’t going to be me and Stefon.”
Stefon, known as one of Hader’s most memorable characters, first appeared on the sketch comedy show in 2008. He later became the show’s bizarre New York City correspondent on “Weekend Update” in 2010, which Meyers anchored at the time.
The comedian went on to detail the vision he had for the movie: “I said,...

Seth Meyers has revealed a Saturday Night Live secret.
In an interview with the podcast Las Culturistas, hosted by Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, Meyers — a former Saturday Night Live head writer — discussed a 2008 episode with host Anne Hathaway and musical guest the Killers.
“It is the only time I remember when that show was over, the audience gave a standing ovation, and the Killers performed again” after the end of the show, Meyers said.
The Killers made at least one other big impression.
“My parents were at the show,” Meyers recalled, “and I introduced my mom to the Killers, and as they walked away, she said very loud, and they heard, ‘Well I don’t know why they call themselves the Killers, they couldn’t be nicer boys.’”
That 2008 season was satisfying for Meyers. “That year, those Sarah Palin things, that is the most I ever felt like we are on a winning team,...

Scott Pilgrim is back, but not in the way anyone expected. The new Netflix animated series “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” is both a continuation of the “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” story and a complete recontextualization of what transpired, twisting and morphing the source material into something completely new. And who better to do it than the author responsible for creating “Scott Pilgrim” in the first place?
The anime “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” is created by Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski, and while it begins similarly to “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” a shocking twist at the end of Episode 1 soon takes this story in a different direction.
Edgar Wright, who co-wrote and directed the 2010 film adaptation “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” is involved in this new series as an executive producer and he also helped bring a big piece of the puzzle together: the cast.

Comedian Matt Rogers was stoned, wandering the streets of New York City, reeling from a bad breakup, and trying desperately to unlock the lyrics of a song steeped in this heartbreak — that also had to fit on his Christmas album. He had the start of a hook (“Go get everything you want…”) and a core idea, hoping his ex will get everything he wants in life, even if Rogers won’t be the one to provide it. But that was it.

Longtime friends Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez may not be as close as they used to be.
Rumors of a rift between Leah, 53, and Jennifer, 54, were first sparked last summer when Leah was noticeably missing from Jennifer‘s wedding to Ben Affleck in August 2022.
A source later said that Leah didn’t attend the wedding because she was moving her daughter into college that same weekend.
Leah later raised eyebrows when she attended Jennifer‘s ex-husband Marc Anthony‘s wedding to Nadia Ferreira in January 2023.
On Wednesday (Sept. 27), Michelle Visage – who has been close friends with Leah for decades – appeared on Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang’s Las Culturistas podcast, where she seemingly reignited the falling out rumors between Leah and Jennifer.

Bowen Yang announced that he will be taking a break from his podcast Las Culturistas to focus on his own mental health.
He posted a short statement over the weekend on his Instagram story.
“Taking a very short break from [Las Culturistas],” he wrote. “Bad bouts of depersonalization are f—ing me up bad, but I am doing my best to get better! Please take care, back soon.”
Yang has co-hosted the show since 2016 with Matt Rogers. They focus on pop culture and have had many celebrity guests on air, including Andy Cohen, Reneé Rapp, Keke Palmer and Kelly Clarkson.
Depersonalization is a serious mental disorder where a person will constantly feel like they are not in their own body and are observing their actions from outside. Each person’s experience with the disorder is different and it is also possible that you can feel like things around you and your life aren’t real.

Saturday Night Live comedian Bowen Yang doesn’t see how referring to Raquel Leviss from Vanderpump Rules as Rachel as being a big burn.
Ever since the affair broke that Leviss was having an affair with her close friend Ariana Madix’s boyfriend Tom Sandoval, fans and the Vanderpump Rules cast have referred to Leviss by her legal name, Rachel, using it in a derogatory way. Leviss explained that she changed her name to Raquel in grade school when another student was also named Rachel.
