Alan Cumming played Nightcrawler in 2003's X2: X-Men United, though the role ended up being a one-and-done for the actor. He didn't return for X-Men: The Last Stand and was also absent from X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Later, Kodi Smit-McPhee replaced Cumming as a younger version of Kurt Wagner, portraying the teleporting mutant in X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Unfortunately, we never got anything quite as memorable as the original Nightcrawler's attack on the White House.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly about his status as a queer actor, Cumming reflected on his superhero movie debut and explained why he believes the X-Men sequel is by far his "gayest film."
"Oh, I think the X-Men film I'm in [2003’s X2: X-Men United,] is the gayest film that I've ever done. It's got a queer director, lots of queer actors in it," he tells the site. "I love the fact that something...

Exclusive: Marvin Jones III (Halo), Michael Xavier (Wild Cards) and Dominic Burgess (Palm Royale) have joined the cast of Prime Video‘s graphic novel series, Criminal, in recurring roles. They join the previously announced leads: Charlie Hunnam, Adria Arjona, Richard Jenkins, Kadeem Hardison and Logan Browning.
Criminal is an interlocking universe of crime stories based on the multi-Eisner Award-winning graphic novel series created by Brubaker and Sean Phillips.
Jones III will play Chester, crime boss Sebastian Hyde’s (John Hawkes) fearsome chief enforcer. Much like a seven-foot-tall man becoming a basketball player whether he likes it or not, Chester was drafted into the criminal life for his size and fearsomeness. He’s no sadist, relying on his reputation and intelligence to get his way. He speaks softly most of the time, but the threat of sudden and deadly violence is always there.

For me, Wolverine started as a Saturday morning cartoon character. In fact I saw the first X-Men movie before picking up a comic. This just goes to show the strength and popularity of the character, with 2024 his 50th year in comics which coincides with potentially his biggest and best outing on the big screen. Here I am going to walk you through my personal journey with the little guy who made it big across all forms of media. How I came to be a comic reader and collector is a story for another day.
Getting back to those Saturday mornings, why did Wolverine stand out? First of all the costume just leaps off the screen. When he is out of the trademark yellow and blue there wasn’t another cartoon character that looked like him! I mean the hair, the height, the plaid shirt and the cowboy hat combo! It...

Patrick Stewart has played an umpteen number of iconic characters in his long career. The actor is as versatile as one can be and is unafraid to take on roles that one might not necessarily see him in. His most popular role is undoubtedly his long run as Professor X in the Marvel Universe. The actor has played the character since the 2000s and most recently in 2022’s Doctor Strange 2.
Patrick Stewart as Professor X in X-Men | 20th Century Fox
In current times, inclusivity and representation have become a very important necessity in any workplace or industry. Charles Xavier famously moves with the help of a wheelchair as he is paralyzed below his waist. With the question of whether a new Professor X should be played by a differently abled person, Stewart feels that putting that kind of specificity restricts creativity.
