- John started building props and sets for Star Wars: Tremors of the Force because he was bribed with a set of the Storm Trooper Armer, once filming was completed.
- In Patriot, John had to act as a "DHS Soldier" and dies 17 times. In the camp escape scene he was computer imposed into it as every Soldier there, running across the field on a 90 degree day until all the Soldiers were filmed, and even had to fall down a flight of stairs in one scene.
- In Armageddon Ed's Ticket to Hell, during the montage scene of the actors driving the Cadillac and shooting guns, the car broke down. John and another effects artist quickly set up a spare green screen they brought, pushed the car in front of it and pushed and pulled on the bumper, out of frame, to simulate the car driving down the road!.
- In Blood Lodge John operated the blood pump for the bathroom zombie attack scene and was so covered in blood that later that same night, after the actors playing zombies went home, he and another effects artist stood in and clawed at the window as zombies without having to go through makeup.
- In Star Wars: Tremors of the Force, John worked on building the armor for the Storm Troopers and was almost all the Storm Troopers who died, because no one else could fall in the armor without breaking it.
