Mumbai, April 24 (Ians) Pratim D. Gupta, the writer-creator of the streaming series ‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’, drew inspiration from his formative years in Kolkata to create an immersive experience for the series which is set against the backdrop of a land divided between ‘Uppar’ (Human world) and ‘Neeche’ (Vampire world) ki duniya, and narrates the love story between a human and a vampire.
One of the things that stands out in the series is the presentation of Kolkata, its architecture, culture and the narrow alleys. Kolkata is more than a location in the series.
Talking about the experience of shooting in Kolkata, Pratim said: “Shooting in Kolkata was a transformative experience – immersing ourselves in a city that is so steeped in literature, art, music, as well as philosophy. Kolkata isn’t simply the location where the story of ‘Tooth Pari’ is set. It’s a character in its own...

Now the vampires have been living in the catacombs of Calcutta for several centuries and they wear… a different kind of outfit.
About the Series
Tooth Pari: When Love Bites is a classic vampire comedy series, one of those that, deep down, are not very funny and that, no matter how far we go back in the genre, we can’t find a halfway decent reference.
However, they still have their audience and now Bollywood is trying its luck again -not very successfully, by the way- with this light romantic comedy,...

There is a significant amount of films made from the perspective of non-resident Indians and their love for the mother-land. Be it a result of patriotic affiliation or simply a case of treasured memories, similar narratives have been churned out numerous times. As a result, nostalgia has almost become a cliché in itself due to the bourgeois fetishization of memories. “Maacher Jhol” falls in the same vein, yet it is the itched-out performance by Ritwick Chakraborty, which makes one fall for the central character’s plea for sympathy.
Through the film, we get to know about Dev D aka Devdatto (Ritwick Chakraborty) who is a chef in a French restaurant. He comes off as a fairly authoritative figure around the cooks, who seem to have genuine affection towards food than the authority itself. The same person comes home to be greeted with a cupcake made by his girlfriend – Simone, which he enjoys just as dearly.

A hitman, a hooker, and a hustler all with hearts of gold: these are the three main characters in Pratim D. Gupta's latest thriller, Saheb Bibi Golaam (The Drifters). Except, these three aren't exactly virtuous, they have their pecadillos and peculiar habits, and each of them plays an integral part in a crime against an innocent that none can ever undo. This new thriller from the Bengali journalist and filmmaker is populated with fine performances and more than enough twists to keep the viewer guessing right up until the last minute. Anjan Dutt starts the film off as the surly hitman Jimmy Luke. Jimmy is a former cop who has lost his wife and his faith in good things and has instead turned his skills...
