Mateo Caldas was born in Bogota / Colombia. By learning from his dad, an aviator, and his mom, an artist, he realized from a young age that he was not meant for a traditional path. Mateo grew up with a deep passion for films. At age 8, after meeting an adult friend who owned a camera and who was curious and willing to help Mateo film his ideas, he began acting and directing short action videos using real explosives and props, as well as involving his friends as extras. He continued to make short films throughout his teen years while also becoming a nationally ranked professional Motocross racer and Aviation Pilot.
Once Mateo realized that acting was a life long soul mate, there were no longer any distractions for him. In January 2010, he moved to Boston to begin his Film Acting studies at Northeastern University. He graduated in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Screen Acting & Cinema Studies.
During his time at Northeastern, Mateo starred in a dozen different short films and won 4 "Best Actor" awards including Hollywood CMF 2013 Best Actor Award for his performance in "Reset", in a competition of 100,000 other short films and 160,000 other actors internationally.
After graduating from Northeastern University, Mateo moved to Los Angeles CA, where he currently resides. With his focus and commitment he hopes to help Directors execute their vision, and create great work.
