How long has it been now since Final Fantasy Xv was confirmed as being in development? Months? Years? Infinity? It certainly feels like the latter option sometimes. However long the wait has been for a proper release date has been, it will finally be over tonight when Square Enix announces it at a special event in Los Angeles at 10pm Est / 3am BST / 7am Pacific.
For those of you intending to watch the entire thing online, Twitch, YouTube and Xbox One will all have their own streams for you to watch at your convenience and, judging by Square Enix’s comments, it’s not something fans will want to miss.
The Japanese studio says there will be “major announcements and surprises,” along with “all kinds of wonderful stuff never seen or heard before!”

Since being announced at The Videogame Awards back in December, Telltale Games has been pretty quiet in regards to their upcoming Batman: A Telltale Games Series. Like the titular hero, though, the studio came out of the shadows last night to unveil some early details on the episodic adventure.
During the panel, which was moderated by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, Telltale Games discussed several pieces of important news regarding the title. Pertinent to most, though, is the fact that the first episode of Batman will be available this summer. No specific platforms, or images from the title were revealed, but that didn’t stop the studio from opening up about the game.

Ten years in the making, Final Fantasy Xv will finally emerge from a troubled development later in 2016 – exactly when will surely be revealed during this month’s Uncovered event.
Threatening to spoil the surprise ahead of time is a report unearthed by Gematsu, signalling that the long-awaited RPG sequel may be on course to hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 30. According to the outlet, the information that surfaced was “corroborated by three independent sources,” though it’s still worth taking said rumor with a grain of salt until Square takes to the stage in two weeks’ time.
First hatched as Versus Xiii all the way back in 2006, Square Enix’s sequel evolved into Final Fantasy Xv once the creative team opted to tell the story within one core experience, as opposed to spilling over into sequels in the vein of Final Fantasy Xiii.

Depending on your affinity with Square’s Final Fantasy series, you’ll either struggle to muster any form of excitement for a new mainline installment, or be waiting for the launch of Final Fantasy Xv with bated breath.
It’s been an awful long time coming, too, but it would appear Xv‘s arrival is looming on the horizon, with this weekend’s Active Time Report heralding new information regarding the Niflheim empire, how magic filters into the Jrpg sequel and a new character in the form of Aranea Highwind – one described as a “skilled aerial combatant.”

One of the biggest takeaways from the presence of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End at PlayStation Experience last weekend was the fact that Naughty Dog has implemented dialogue trees into the game’s single-player mode.
For a feature more associated with open-world RPGs or Telltale’s episodic adventure series, their inclusion took fans of the swashbuckling franchise by surprise, though Creative Director Neil Druckmann cautioned that the storytelling mechanics won’t be widespread in A Thief’s End, with the studio planning to adhere to a less-is-more approach.
Speaking with Greg Miller of Kinda Funny Games, Druckmann highlighted the advantages of introducing dialogue options.
“There were a few spots in the game where we felt dialogue options would give us something interesting. So with Sam talking to Nate about his adventures, we thought this was cool nod to the fans. Where would Nate start the story? Let’s give...

Comic Book Movie's NailBiter111 got ahold of game footage from a cancelled The Flash video game. The video features an early test to figure out how the combat might work. Greg Miller, lead designer on the game, sent Cbm the footage and the following statement.
Miller on the game:
This was a very early test of the direction we were thinking of taking running combat. We were shooting for the old school feel of the “Road Rash” series where you could punch and pummel your opponent until you got him to wipe out. Our main difference was that you could assign a controller button to an opponent and this would allow you to bounce back and forth between multiple running foes. The bad guys were going to be Cadmus experiments into super speed who would terrorize Flash from time to time when he raced across the long city expressways. This...

"Lastly, this is a full sample of what direction we were taking non-running combat. We built a little arena area where we could test out his special moves. Combat was built around the Mark of Kri combat system where you could assign a controller button to an opponent and then anytime you pressed that button you would instantly dash to that opponent and strike him. There was a whole combo system integrated and you could use combos on a single opponent or spread the blows out across multiple opponents. The system is a bit too complex to really explain here but there was going to be a good amount of depth to it. It wasn’t just going to be button mashing. If you watch closely you'll see a variety of Flash's classic moves that we were trying to incorporate." - Greg Miller Greg Miller has since moved on to building apps.

Whereas Central City is full of huge glass and steel skyscrapers like a city with one foot in the future, Keystone City still has one foot in the past and is comprised mainly of smaller buildings constructed from brick and mortar. There isn’t a whole lot to see in this video but it gives a little tease of how we though life in Keystone might be." - Greg Miller Greg Miller has since moved on to building apps. "The bulk of the original Flash video came from this tour of Central City. In this video you get to see Flash racing around the city at various speeds (his top speed is actually in this video so hopefully this will satisfy people that kept saying he wasn’t running fast enough), you’ll get to see him running across rooftops doing various stunts and grinds, and it should give a pretty good taste of the overall art direction we were taking Central City." - Greg Miller Greg Miller has since moved on to building apps. In early 2008, Brash Entertainment, who owned the license to DC Comics games, hired BottleRocket Entertainment to create a video game adaption of the DC Comics character, The Flash. The project came to a halt when Brash Entertainment folded in November of 2008. By that time, BottleRocket had already put in ten months worth of work, 3 to 4 months of pre-production and 6 months of actual production. The game still required another year's worth of work to get to completion. Last several day, I've posted navigation, combat and gameplay animatics, as well as plenty of fantastic concept art. Today, the game's Lead Designer, Greg Miller, has sent over storyboards and never-before-seen concept art. There's always one day during the Sdcc when you just shake your head, laugh, and say, "This schedule is ridiculous." Saturday, July 20th, is shaping up to be that day this year.
Horror fans will have a lot of choices to make as the "Bates Motel" panel battles the one-two punch of Godzilla and Seventh Son. Later in the day you'll be faced with choosing to learn more about "True Blood," Telltale's The Walking Dead video game, or "Being Human." Right now 20th Century Fox's presentation that runs at the same time remains "To Be Announced," but once details are revealed, we'll provide an update.
Other panels vying for your attention throughout the day are "The Originals," "Grimm," I, Frankenstein teamed with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (that combination should make for some interesting audience reactions), a look at gameplay from Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, more games, comics,...

New York -- The Washington Post ran a front-page story Tuesday about the CIA agent who serves as the model for Maya, one of the the main characters in "Zero Dark Thirty," a much-anticipated film about the hunt for Osama bin Laden.
The Post described how the CIA agent, who's now in her 30s, has "sparred" with colleagues, "lashed out" at them in a reply-all email, was "passed over for a promotion," and has "come under scrutiny for her contacts with filmmakers."
But while the Post reveals such details about the woman's complicated tenure at the agency, the paper didn't name the undercover agent or get an opportunity to speak with her personally.
"The woman is not allowed to talk to journalists," wrote the Post's Greg Miller, "and the CIA declined to answer questions about her, except to stress that the bin Laden mission involved an extensive team."

Gamers everywhere seem ready to break out the pitchforks and torches, as they drive anyone out of the gaming industry ready to take a stance against the used gaming market. Used games appeal to us with their shiny lowered price tags, seducing us into making that seemingly blasphemous used purchase. I think it is time to raise awareness about what happens when you purchase the used game. It is time to take this discussion to a level where we explore why the used gaming industry is a succubus seducing us into buying our games used, but most importantly why they aren’t encouraging new purchases. The used gaming market has created an illusion of positivity when at the end of the day all it does is hurt the industry more. Used gaming is not a single source of problems for our industry, but it is a serious contender and the time to change is now.
