Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters admit their new ABC series, “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World,” is a bit hard to explain at first. But it comes down to this easy message: “Don’t be a jerk.”
Jason Ritter stars as Kevin Finn, a selfish and clueless man who hits rock bottom and decides to move home to Texas and live with his widowed twin sister Amy, played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and his teenage niece Reese. Once night, a mysterious meteor lands near their house, and Kevin starts to see visions – of a woman named Yvette, who claims to be a warrior for God. Yvette tells Kevin he’s the last of the 36 righteous on earth. Now, he needs to recruit the rest of a new batch of 35.
“In the last couple years and with the election, it didn’t matter politically if you were left or right — it felt like people felt hopelessness,...

Let’s get this unpleasantness out of the way: Kevin (Probably) Saves the World is a terrible title. It’s too cutesy by half — has any show with parentheses in the title ever survived to see a Season 2? — and also misleading, seeming to promise some kind of epic, globe-spanning battle of good vs. evil. ABC’s new dramedy (premiering Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 10/9c) is most assuredly not that… but it’s not bad, either, thanks to a sweet soulfulness and a thoroughly charming lead performance from Jason Ritter.

The Leftovers began as a portrait of a small New York town tearing itself apart after a national tragedy. It ended with a final season that revolved, in large part, around an international scientific conspiracy involving Cousin Larry from Perfect Strangers. And over the course of getting from bereaved jus' folks to Mark Linn-Baker, Damon Lindelof's mediation on mourning in America became one of the most moving and thrilling television dramas of the young century.

Warning: Spoiler alert! Do not proceed if you haven’t watched Tuesday’s episode of This Is Us.
It was not a good Valentine’s Day for Jack and Rebecca.
On Tuesday’s episode of This Is Us, the couple starts off the day with the happiest of intentions as Rebecca prepares to leave the family for her five-month tour. As is their Valentine’s Day tradition, Jack and Rebecca plan to go to their favorite Pittsburgh diner, O’Shannon’s, following her concert that night. Jack even reserves the booth under the Muhammad Ali photo -- Rebecca’s favorite.
But doubt sets in for Jack, who has been telling Rebecca he was Ok with her going out on the road, and he finally lets his guard down about it to Miguel. “I could deal with a piano bar a couple nights a week, but a tour? Who does she think she is: Janis Freakin’ Joplin...

By now, America should be starving for shows like This Is Us.
As we find out on This Is Us Season 1 Episode 1, it's a drama about family. They have their issues and we're introduced to them one by one in such a way that even though we don't know the entirety of the family dynamic, we want to know more. At least I do.
The characters are interesting and well fleshed out in a very limited period of time. There are some exceptions, of course, but there is only so much you can do in 40 minutes. And that "hook" at the end? Well, don't read on if you haven't seen it yet, because we're talking about it here. You've been warned.
Unless it's a comedy, however, American audiences don't much care for emotion and light. We've somehow fallen into situation where dark is good, whether it's the material or the actual lighting.

Will Mike really get out of prison?
Suits Season 6 Episode 8 was a wild ride that had Mike and Harvey trying to find a way to get the deal back on the table, but there were a lot of things standing in the way that had to be resolved.
Mike had to try his best to get Kevin on board. You have to respect Mike's honesty. Telling Kevin he was informing on him was a bold move and it could have made things much worse.
If Kevin found out from someone other than Mike, there was a huge risk that Kevin would never trust Mike again. Mike and Kevin's friendship has been a highlight of Suits Season 6.
The prison storyline has been all over the place, but it seems like things are finally beginning to come together. The outcome may even be positive.
It's a shame there's no way a deal...

Does anyone give an inspirational speech better than Dean freaking Winchester? Because if Tuesday night’s episode of Supernatural is any indication, the eldest Winchester has been studying the Coach Taylor Guide to Heart-Stirring Rhetoric, and I like it. A lot.
But speaking more generally, “The Devil May Care” as a whole was a pretty solid hour that saw the return of stepford demon Abaddon, the introduction of a few new faces (only one of which lived to see the end of the hour), and more of angel Ezekiel in a very interesting way.
That’s your teaser. Let’s...
