Nikil Shyam Sunder is an experienced commercial filmmaker and Emmy award winning producer. Born in New Delhi in 1985, raised in Chennai and Coimbatore, and based in Los Angeles since 2010, he produces feature films, commercials, and music videos. Nikil brings an analytical, problem-solving component to his projects by drawing from his training as an engineer from Anna University.
His focus on producing cinematic quality feature film, commercials and music videos has given him the opportunity to work with many well-known artists, studios, and corporations. He has collaborated with Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber. Mary J. Blige, Janelle Monae, Zayne Malik, The Fray, Chainsmokers and many more artists. Nikil has supervised production and produced multiple national TV and web commercials spots for some of the top 100 brands in the country.
In 2016 Nikil co-produced the high-action, drama-thriller "My Father Die", which premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas in March 2016, and went on to win Best Score, Best Editing, and Best Director at the ScreamFest Film Festival in Los Angeles in October 2017.
In 2018, Nikil produced the drama "Spiral Farm", featuring director Brian De Palma's daughter Piper De Palma in her feature film debut. "Spiral Farm" premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah in January 2019.
In 2019, Nikil also line produced the dark comedy thriller "The Estate" Starring Eliza Coupe, Chris Baker & Greg Finley, directed by James Kapner that's presently available to stream on Hulu and most other streaming providers.
In the Summer of 2021, he wrapped up production on an offbeat Jewish Romantic Comedy "Simchas & Sorrows" based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that release at the end of 2022.
In 2023, Nikil was nominated and won a Sport Emmy for Outstanding Digital Innovation for his video producing work on the Sports Film "McEnroe Vs McEnroe"
Along with writer Thomas Yungerberg and director Arya Moghaddam, he is currently developing his next feature film, "Gross Profit", a thriller about two brothers in business fraudulently disguising suicides as accidents
