Tel Aviv, Sep 30 (Ians) The 88-time tour-level titlist Novak Djokovic cruised past Spaniard Pablo Andujar 6-0, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals of the Tel Aviv Watergen Open here on Thursday.
He has wasted no time finding his top form after more than two months away and it was the fewest games Djokovic has lost in any match this season.
“Fantastic atmosphere here tonight, thank you very much,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview. “I like the court, it’s very intimate and it’s very loud. The crowd here is very passionate about the sport, about tennis and I’m really, really happy to be here and to perform here in front of you, so thank you for your support.”
In his first match back at the Laver Cup, Djokovic performed at a similarly high level in a straight-sets victory against US Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe, before suffering an upset loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Paris, May 31 (Ians) Spaniard Pablo Andujar made a remarkable recovery from being two sets down, for the first time in his career, to beat a top-5 player when he shocked fourth seed Austrian Dominic Thiem 4-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in the first-round of French Open on Sunday.
World No. 68 Andujar took full advantage of Thiem's lapses in concentration on way to upsetting the 2018 and 2019 finalist in over four hours and 28 minutes on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Andujar, who beat Roger Federer at the Gonet Geneva Open two weeks ago, now has a 6-23 career record against top 10 opponents.
Andujar will now play either Moldovan Radu Albot or Federico Delbonis of Argentina.
World No. 4 Thiem, who finished as runner-up to Rafael Nadal in the 2018 and 2019 finals, is now 9-8 this season. This was his first opening-round loss at Roland Garros in eight appearances.
In other action, Italian No. 27 seed Fabio Fognini struck...

Geneva, May 17 (Ians) Tennis great Roger Federer would be hoping to make an impact when he returns to action after injury-induced two-month absence at the Geneva Open against Spain's Pablo Andujar on Tuesday.
"I am just concerned about where my game is at. The guys are back on Tour in a good rhythm, the level everyone is producing is great. I want to achieve that again too," the Swiss, who has played just two matches this year due to injury, said on Monday.
The 39-year-old winner of 20 Grand Slam titles said that though things were going well for him in practice, he still needed to play some matches to get back to prime fitness.
"I need to play 10 matches to give you a better answer [about my level]. Things have been going well in practice. When you come back from an injury, you're in a different place than everyone else. I am excited about the comeback,...

Geneva, May 18 (Ians) World No.75 Pablo Andujar of Spain ended No. 8 Roger Federer's 32-match winning streak on Swiss soil, defeating the 39-year-old tennis great 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in the second round of the Geneva Open on Tuesday.
It was Federer's first loss in Switzerland since October 27, 2013, when Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro beat him in the Swiss Indoors Basel final.
Andujar will next face the winner of the second-round match between Switzerland's Dominic Stephan Stricker (No. 419) and Marton Fucsovics of Hungary.
Andujar placed his serve deep and capitalised on Federer's shorter groundstrokes in the early stages. Although Federer's movement improved, groundstroke errors cost the Swiss at 4-5 when Andujar wrapped up the opening set in 38 minutes.
It wasn't until the third game of the second set that Federer created his first break point off a forehand winner. With a 2-1 advantage, Federer grew in confidence and started to impose his all-court game.
