Jeanie You
- Producer
- Director
- Writer
Born in South Korea Jeanie You emigrated to the U.S. living much of her youth in Chicago and the surrounding metropolitan area.
At five years old she won her first beauty pageant and was crowned Little Miss Korea.
During middle school Jeanie was heavily involved in chorus and art. Often having solos and lead roles in performances and some say her love of art was evident by her fashion flair (she'd often made her own clothing with a sewing machine she'd received on her twelfth birthday by up-cycling her family's clothing and various fabrics).
She graduated high school early and with honors while working near full time at an insurance agency and volunteering at a domestic violence center as well as a home for sociopathic youth.
Upon finishing high school she accepted a position at ARDIS, a partnership of IBM & Motorola that created the technology for two way text messaging. Her start date had to be held for several months as she wasn't yet eighteen.
While working she attended college where her interest in visual arts grew. She began working with various media (primarily oil, acrylic, water colors, pastels and charcoal) and took a class in Television Production & her first acting class Children's Theater Workshop.
She graduated university as a member of the Alpha Chi Honors Society with degrees in Business Communication, Sociology and Computer Science (CIS) and was sought after by tech firms by her junior year.
Soon after working as a software developer, Jeanie realized that although computer programming and coding were great for her pocket book, it wasn't a good fit. Her soul felt as dark and empty as the spaces programmers were put in at the time.
Driven by her love of art, creation and technology, Jeanie founded All For You Productions Digital Media & Consulting Haus in 2004 to "Visually translate narratives that make shift happen". She is a Director and Producer for commercials, television, film and e-learning and has an extremely robust background in professional speaking, writing, acting, modeling, singing, dance and interactive entertainment.
In 2010 Jeanie moved to Texas to work as a consultant helping a major petroleum company improve their image after a public crisis. She created a bio diesel fuel sector as a solution. That's where her love for sustainability was blossomed. By 2013 she'd moved into the space of solar, followed by electric vehicle charging, then hydrogen fuel cell and eventually (circling back to her childhood of repurposing clothing) - sustainability in fashion.
As a person who has always been compelled to "be the change" Jeanie took on the role as the head of Business Operations for the 2016 TEDx LA project Beyond the Label challenging people to 'Imagine a world where consumers knew the high cost of cheap fashion and were empowered to make a difference". Alongside founder, Taryn Hipwell, Jeanie created immersive panels, workshops, installations and fashion shows in higher education spaces, festivals and trade shows across the nation to "make shift happen" in the way people view their clothing and how it effects people's lives, our economy and the planet.
Jeanie was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Mayor Eric Garcetti, Councilmember David E. Ryu, Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell and the City of Los Angeles in recognition of outstanding citizenship and activities enhancing community betterment for her contributions with #ResistMarch (June 2017). Later that year she met with Senators at the California State Capital for the purpose of helping to push a bill that fought for workplace rights for the highly marginalized transgender and non-binary community (TGNC) (SB396 passed in October of 2017) and facilitated trainings at the Capital Building for members of California State Caucuses (Latino, Women's, Black, Asian Pacific Island, LGBT and Jewish) to better understand and create safe spaces for the TGNC community (August 2017).
In 2018 she was the Event Producer for the highly successful TGNC Summit for the Los Angeles Community College District. It was the 1st of its kind in the nation
