DC Studios will move forward on a new live-action feature film adaptation of DC Comics' super anti-hero "Swamp Thing", a humanoid-plant elemental creature, created by writer Len Wein and illustrator Bernie Wrightson, with producers promising to adhere to the character's comic book 'horror roots':
"...in a secret facility located in the Louisiana bayous, scientist 'Alec Holland' and his wife 'Linda' invent a bio-restorative formula that can solve any nations' food shortage problems.
"Two thugs working for 'Nathan Ellery', head of the criminal organization the 'Conclave', barge into Alec's lab, knocks him out and plants a bomb in the facility.
"Alec wakes up as the bomb explodes. In flames, he runs into the swamp. His body is drenched in the bio-restorative formula, affecting plant life in the swamp, imbuing it with Alec's consciousness and memories.

Swamp Thing Episode 7
After officially introducing the concept of The Green, Swamp Thing takes another step forward in building its mythology, which happens to align closely with the comics, by introducing The Rot, aka The Black. Moreover, Alec Holland’s powers continue to grow. This is all a good thing since Marais is tearing itself apart.
I applaud this series for not holding back with Swamp Thing’s abilities. I can see a version of the show where things are painfully reserved, but not only is our hero using hallucinogenic spores to appear human, he’s growing fruit, summoning plants from the other side of the world, and even using the flora in Abby’s body to combat The Rot infection.

Geoff Boucher of Deadline is just one of the many that have been pointing to the upcoming Swamp Thing series that some folks are becoming aware of and are starting to get excited for. Apparently Michael Beach has joined the cast as Nathan Ellery, a shrewd and driven businessman with very questionable ethics. Fans of DC might recognize Beach from his brief role in Aquaman as the elder Manta that was killed early on in the movie. He’ll be playing one of the more villainous roles for which he’s well-suited since he’s been the villain-type before in The 100 as
