Gurugram, Oct 23 (Ians) Amandeep Drall’s tied second place at the US400,000 Hero Women’s Indian Open was the icing on the cake in a week that saw a very strong display by the home contingent.
Amandeep was in contention till late on Sunday but finally finished with scores of 67, 72, 76 and 72.
“Today, I wouldn’t say it was a bad round. Level par on this Dlf course is always a very good score especially when I was playing in the leader group for the very first time. My front nine was better and on the back nine, I missed two short birdie putts on the 12th and 13th. Yet, overall I was very happy with the way I played over the four days.”
Taking sole fourth place was Lpga regular Aditi Ashok (70-71-69-71) with a seven-under-par 281 aggregate while Gaurika Bishnoi (71-68-72-73) was tied for sixth place on four-under 284.

Gurugram, Oct 17 (Ians) Aditi Ashok, whose name brings about a sense of excitement among Indian golf fans, is back on ‘home’ turf in India for the Hero Women’s Indian Open after a gap that got extended due to the pandemic.

Gurugram, Oct 13 (Ians) Six years ago, when Camille Chevalier came to India, all her thoughts centred around having a solid week to ensure that she moved from her rookie status to a better position the following season by keeping her card.
Even after playing 36 holes when she was three shots behind the second round leader, the 23-year-old from Aix-en-Provence in France confessed that she was not even thinking about a win as she teed off in the final round.
Yet she did pull it off with a great back nine at the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2017 – in fact she had five birdies in the last nine holes. That grandstand finish saw her grab her maiden Let title one shot ahead of Michele Thompson, who had a record-setting 64 on the second day.
