I’ll never forget the first time I saw Napoleon Dynamite. It was in a Montreal movie theater in the old Forum building (currently featured in the Queen IMAX doc Queen Rock Montreal). The film had only been out a few weeks but had already started becoming a cult hit following its Sundance premiere. I remember it being a matinee on a weekday, and I was stunned when I saw several audience members wearing identical “Vote for Pedro” t-shirts. I knew from the reviews that it was a reference to the movie, and it was then that I had an accurate idea of just how deep the Napoleon Dynamite cult was going.
And folks – that was Twenty years ago! Crazy isn’t it? But yes, Napoleon Dynamite has been a thing since 2004, with it grossing $44 million on a $400,000 budget, and it’s known as being one of the best-selling DVDs of all time,...

The early returns for “Doctor Sleep,” the upcoming psychological thriller flick from writer-director Mike Flanagan, are in, and in the words of Larry David, they’re “pretty, pretty, pretty good.”
The movie is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 2013 novel of the same name that is also a sequel to his horror classic “The Shining.”
The new film follows an adult Danny Torrance, played by Ewan McGregor, as he works to live a normal life, while still dealing with the lingering effects of what he experienced at the Overlook Hotel as a child. Torrance’s plans go sideways, though, when he bumps into a teenager that shares the “shine” ability and needs his help to fend off some nefarious characters.

The movie hits theaters Nov. 8, but critics that caught a screening this week have been praising it already.

Margot Robbie will follow up her big 2019 with an even bigger 2020 thanks to the release of “Birds of Prey.” The Warner Bros. tentpole finds the Oscar nominee reprising her “Suicide Squad” role of Harley Quinn opposite Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, and Ewan McGregor as Black Mask. The superhero film is powered by women, with Robbie serving as producer and “Dead Pigs” helmer Cathy Yan in the director’s chair, and that’s one reason Harley Quinn won’t be presented only as an object of desire.
“That’s what happens when you have a female producer, director, writer,” costume designer Erin Benach recently told Vogue about making some slight alterations to Harley Quinn’s “Suicide Squad” look in order to better empower the character.
“Yeah, it’s definitely less male gaze–y,” Robbie added.
Benach went straight into work on “Birds of Prey” following “A Star Is Born.

There was recently a screening for Legendary Pictures’ upcoming Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu in Japan. The reactions from those who attended started flooding social media, and as you’ll see, fans seem to love the film!
Words like cute, heartwarming, and adorable are littered throughout the reactions. One says that it’s the best video game adaptation that has been made, and another likens the film to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.
This is a movie that I’ve been on the fence about. It’s one I haven’t really been excited about, but these first reactions do lift my spirits. It’s always nice to see a movie you’re not so sure about bombarded with great reviews! I hope that the movie lives up to the hype!
My kids are super excited about watching this movie, and in the end I know they’re going to love it.
