Mariya Lemesheva is a Soviet and Russian opera singer (soprano). Honored Artist and People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
Daughter of opera singers Sergei Lemeshev and Irina Maslennikova, stepdaughter of Boris Pokrovskiy. Mariya's mother was the fourth wife of Sergei Lemeshev, the legendary performer of the role of Lenskiy in Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's opera "Evgeniy Onegin". Her parents married in 1943 and divorced in 1950. Despite her parents' divorce, Mariya always maintained a relationship with her father. Mother remarried the great opera director Boris Pokrovskiy. Mariya had a good relationship with her stepfather; they immediately became friends.
From an early age Mariya studied music and vocals. In 1968 she graduated from GITIS named after Anatoli Lunacharsky. In 1968-1971 - soloist of the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1971-2014 she worked at the Chamber Musical Theater named after Boris Pokrovskiy.
