The DC Extended Universe as we know it seems to be nearing its end, or at least a very comic book-like, universe-shifting reboot. Reflecting the corporate changes at the higher echelon of Warner Bros. after its merger with Discovery, Inc., the company's DC branch is facing its own changing of the guard, bringing in filmmaker James Gunn and producer Peter Safran to head the "DC Universe." Gunn's initial slate of films and television series, dubbed "Chapter One: Gods and Monsters," will introduce heroes like Supergirl, Booster Gold, and Damian Wayne, as well as Swamp Thing, who is arguably the most exciting part of Gunn's roster.
Gunn is clearly a fan of the weirder and uglier sides of both Marvel and DC comics. He helped turn the Guardians of the Galaxy from an obscure team of C- and D-list cosmic heroes to Marvel headliners, and then repeated the formula with...

Superhero films have become mainstream of mainstream cinema, but their stand up to widespread success hasn’t always been smooth. Some of the superhero movies like Tim Burton’s Batman (1989), Superman: The Movie (1978), and The Incredible Hulk live-action series (1977-1982) proved superheroes had screen potential.
Moreover, Live-action adaptations of comic book characters were popular Movie and television producers adapted comic book titles with varied degrees of success during the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
While some old-school directors may dislike comic book films for a variety of reasons, there is no denying their business potential at the box office including Captain America is one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most beloved heroes. However, these Marvel movies are released in chronological order which is also a correct order to watch all Marvel movies.

The unceremonious cancellation of Swamp Thing after a single episode had aired left many fans frustrated, especially as the strength of that pilot promised an eerie and compelling mystery that the rest of the series more than delivered on. It was announced earlier this week though that The CW has picked up the season, and now, a new poster has been revealed along with a rough air date of Fall 2020.
The series follows Abby Arcane, a Cdc doctor investigating a swamp-borne virus in her small Louisiana hometown. Soon after, she forms a connection with disgraced scientist Alec Holland, who’s also looking into the outbreak but is killed, only to seemingly rise from the swamp as a plant elemental, becoming its defender against those who would seek to threaten or steal its secrets.

I was just the right age for Swamp Thing when he shambled into comics back in the early 1970s. I had years of super-heroes committed to memory so I was primed for something different. Along came Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson’s creation and it dealt nicely with familiar horror tropes but with enough of a twist to feel different along with continuing characters and exquisite artwork.
The arrival of Swamp Thing on DC Universe was equally well-timed in that we’ve had plenty of super-hero films and live-action television so it was a welcome addition to their initial lineup. Then came the news that there was trouble on the set, the series order was cut, then canceled after one ten-episode season. We were left with plenty of unfulfilled potential.
For those who missed out on the show, Warner Home Entertainment has released Swamp Thing the Complete Series in a fine Blu-ray package.
