Paramount Network announced Monday that Yellowstone has resumed production.
Filming on the Western hit’s final season five episodes has gotten underway in Montana.
While start of production was later than previously thought, MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios still expect the drama to return in November, as previously announced last year.
There was no update on the show’s cast — or whether star Kevin Costner will make an appearance in the final episodes that are expected to wrap the series.
Yellowstone aired it last episode more than a year ago — in January, 2023 — amid Paramount Network deciding to split the season into two parts. Talks of infighting over scheduling and script delays between Costner and showrunner Taylor Sheridan ensued for many months, with Costner also focusing on his upcoming Western epic Horizon: An American Saga. The cast and crew had been planning to resume filming in March 2023 with an announced summer premiere date,...

Wake up, fans of “The Sandman,” we’ve got some Season 2 news for you: The Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s epic graphic novel series has cast the final three siblings in the “Endless Family” of Tom Sturridge’s Dream — Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium, Adrian Lester as Destiny and Barry Sloane as “The Prodigal.”
In “The Sandman” comic book series, The Prodigal is the estranged Endless sibling named Destruction, but Netflix has taken care to label Sloane’s role as “The Prodigal,” which is the way the character is referred to throughout the first volumes of the story. The three new castings point to “The Sandman” Season 2 covering the graphic novel’s iconic installment, “Season of Mists.”
The trio of new “The Sandman” Season 2 actors will join the Endless siblings returning from Season 1: Death (Kirby), Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston) and Dream, The Sandman himself.

As the longest running reality television series, “Survivor” has become a household name. Just think of the famous catchphrases. Who hasn’t said they wanted to vote an irritating person “off the island” or used “the tribe has spoken” at one punny point in their life? After three decades of filming, this year’s Season 46 is proving that changes to this season’s unique gameplay combining social, mental, and physical elements is the key to keeping the series exciting, highly discussable, and popular with viewers.
New aspects of the game introduced after the pandemic have earned the last five seasons the fan-dubbed moniker “New Era Survivor” for good reason. Instead of 39 days, “Survivor” is now played in a shorter and more intense 26 days. Forget those lavish days of “Survivor’s” past with building supplies, canned food and rice, and comfy hammocks. Contestants are no longer given any food to start,...

Former New York Governor, former Donald Trump lawyer, and current guy who owes $150 million to election workers he defamed Rudy Giuliani celebrated his 80th birthday this weekend. It was a typical Maga party, complete with seditious pals like Roger Stone and Steve Bannon, a Sinatra cover band, and presumably all the booze in the world. Oh, and several process servers who, alerted by Giuliani gloating on social media about how successfully he’s been dodging subpoenas for trying to subvert democracy (in Arizona this time), waited until “Happy Birthday” was sung to put the legal documents in Rudy’s baffled hands.
Hubris, thy name, this week anyway, is Rudy. Such a massive self-own was irresistible to late-night, with Jimmy Kimmel opening with a pithily gleeful,...

And then there were three. Monday’s edition of Jeopardy! Masters was the second (and final) round of the semifinals, whittling the remaining quartet of Masters down to the three who’ll compete for the big money on Wednesday’s Season 2 finale episode. Here’s a look at how it all shook out. Game Three This round saw Victoria Groce play her last game, going up against James Holzhauer and Amy Schneider. And, in what seems to be just her luck, she found the first round’s Daily Double right away, betting the $1,000 she could without any money in the bank yet. In the category “Short Kingdoms,” the clue was: “In 1814, this historic German state was made into a kingdom for a little while, largely through the influence of England.” While Groce guessed it was Prussia, host Ken Jennings kindly informed her it was actually Hanover, which meant in a surprising turn,...

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for MasterChef Junior.] Confetti rained down as the MasterChef Junior Season 9 winner was named on Fox. The finale saw Bryson McGlynn, Michael Seegobin, and Remy Powell facing off. These young culinary dynamos put all their skills into preparing a three-course meal including appetizer, entrée and dessert. Adding to the challenge was that they had to incorporate flambé into their first course. Despite the heated competition, the Top 3 supported one another while family and other young chefs cheered for them. “We’ve never had a closer finale,” Gordon Ramsay said. He along with other judges Tilly Ramsay, Aarón Sánchez, and Daphne Oz had the difficult job of choosing who walked away with the $100,000 prize, all the accoutrements for a dream kitchen, coveted trophy, and the title of MasterChef Junior. After deliberation the panel of pros chose McGlynn! The now 12-year-old grillmaster from Opelika, Alabama brought the wow factor to his marinated red...

Blue Bloods isn’t interested in reinventing the wheel in its final season. Showrunner Kevin Wade tells TV Insider that just like in Season 14 Part 1 and its finale, which aired on Friday, May 17 on CBS, Blue Bloods‘ final episodes will be reliably familiar territory, but it will always aim to entertain its loyal viewers. There are dramatic turns they’re interested in exploring, like the bail reform plot line and Aidan Quinn‘s violent reaction to it in the midseason finale, but one thing that’s not likely to happen when the show returns is a Danny and Baez romance. Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Baez (Marisa Ramirez) had the heavy task of reining in Quinn’s Det. Gus Vanderlip, who had gone rogue in response to a serial rapist he had arrested two weeks prior being released. Between this storyline and the crooked sober-living house at which Jamie (Will Estes...

Apple TV+‘s sweetest family comedy Trying is coming back with a bit of a time jump as parents Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) deal with the growing pains of teen children. After officially adopting Princess and Tyler in Season 3—which saw the couple finally tie the knot—Nikki and Jason are six years into their marriage and parenting journey. And while their close-knit unit is solid, lingering questions direct them and their kids down some adventurous paths in Season 4. “We are six years ahead, which is quite a rare time jump in television in the comedic world,” Spall tells TV Insider. “And Princess is now a teenager and our son, Tyler, is 11. And obviously, having a teenager and kids at that age presents a lot of challenges in conventional families.” Both Princess and Tyler are played by new older actors, Scarlett Rayner and Cooper Turner. The Good Doctor is sadly coming to an end after seven seasons, and it has been quite the right over the years. In the aptly titled “Goodbye,” the doctors work together to solve one of the most important cases of their careers. And there have been quite a few of those along the way. For star Freddie Highmore and showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman, narrowing that down isn’t easy. “The ones that come to mind are big sort of Shaun beats,” Highmore tells TV Insider, pointing to Season 4’s “Dr. Ted” and “Love’s Labor” in Season 6. “When Shaun and Lea [Paige Spara] tragically lost their first baby felt like a special episode. And Season 6 was a special season, very much a journey with ups and down that ultimately culminated in them having a kid in the season finale.” For Shore, he does say choosing a favorite moment is like being asked,...

Before digital tools allowed composers to simulate any instrument on a laptop, musical scores for TV were simple melodies performed by a handful of session musicians. The newer technology meant those musicians lost their jobs; so did the guy who transcribed the composer’s scores.
However: That doesn’t mean scores require fewer people, or became cheaper to produce.
Today, even the smallest TV shows employ full orchestras. Tech made things easier, but the cost to produce scores for film and TV has only increased. With greater possibilities, more advanced jobs replaced those that were lost.
That’s the analogy Matt Nix, showrunner for “Burn Notice” and the recent “True Lies,” used when describing the advent of artificial intelligence at the May 16 AI on the Lot summit at Los Angeles Center Studios. He rejected the idea that AI will become a pathway to low-cost filmmaking and TV production that uses...

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“It did feel like the Avengers assembling,” said executive producer Sam Rees-Jones of casting the first all-celebrity edition of “The Traitors” on Peacock. “We knew in Season 2 we wanted to assemble an all celebrity cast knowing that that would create a buzz as well, and would help build on the success of Season 1,” said executive producer Mike Cotton.
The pair, based in the United Kingdom, told IndieWire over Zoom that another key change for the second season of the reality competition series where “faithful” contestants try to weed out who among them are traitors before the latter steal all the money they earned from completing missions was changing the way in which the episodes were rolled out.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the A Gentleman in Moscow finale.] A Gentleman in Moscow‘s series finale honored its source material with an ambiguous ending. The episode, which aired on Sunday, May 19 on Showtime, revealed what happened after Count Alexander Rostov (Ewan McGregor), Anna (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sofia (Beau Gadsdon), and the rest of their friends at the Hotel Metropol launched their plan to get Sofia out of Russia. This also led to Rostov walking out of the hotel’s front doors — an act that’s been paired with the threat of death for decades as he carried out his house arrest in the high-end hotel. After much planning, Sofia’s school trip became the catalyst for her escape in Season 1 Episode 8, “Adieu.” While some roadblocks set her back and threatened her safe departure, the plan worked out in the end. It’s May 20th, so you know what that means…
Oh you don’t either? Well, apparently, it’s National Streaming Day. And this isn’t just any National Streaming Day — it’s the 10th anniversary of the holiday, first declared by Roku in 2014. Break out the champagne — or at least have a few brewskis in Roku City.
More than just the screensaver’s majestic skyline has changed in the past decade. Occupying the penthouse of the largest skyscraper in all of streaming is Netflix, which currently has about 270 million global paid subscribers; 10 years ago the tally was 46 million subs, and the platform had just released “House of Cards” Season 2. Do you think Kevin Spacey’s life has changed at all since then?
On May 20, 2014, Netflix still did DVDs (in addition to streaming), it swore off ads, and would not touch live sports. Well, the DVDs have since been recycled,...

The Commission on Presidential Debates was founded 35 years ago, and it has overseen the general election presidential and vice-presidental debates ever since—until this year.
Which makes The Daily Show‘s booking of the Cpd founder co-chair Frank Fahrenkopf tonight a bit of a “get,” coming hot on the heels of news last week that both President Biden and Former President Trump had agreed to face-off at two presidential debates that would be held outside the purview of his organization.
The Commission had previously announced plans to host a series of debates in September and October, which both campaigns criticised for being too late in the election cycle. Although the Cpd has said it’s still ready to execute on those plans, Stewart’s guest tonight seems be taking more of a scorched-earth approach to his reponse that Biden independently arranged debates with CNN and ABC—and that Trump had agreed to participate in them.

Dreamers awaken! The Sandman saga is back in production, preparing to bring new phantasmagorical episodes — conjured from Neil Gaiman’s iconic graphic novel, which debuted 35 years ago today — to the screen. And it’s finally time to find out who has been cast as Endless family members Destiny, Delirium, and The Prodigal.
“This week we officially restart production on the next sequence of stories of The Sandman for Netflix,”wrote Gaiman in a letter to fans in November 2023.“Genius showrunner Allan Heinberg and the countless people in front of and behind the camera are building something endlessly special, and bringing these stories to life in a way that would once have been unimaginable.”
When we last wandered into the dream world, the magnificently coiffed realm-lord Morpheus aka Dream (Tom Sturridge) and his cadre of companions faced down an impending onslaught of Lucifer’s (Gwendoline Christie) hell-spawned legions. Now, the Endless...

You should be very afraid of what Monica (Bridget Regan) and Oscar (Matthew Glave) teaming up means for The Rookie heading into the May 21 finale. At the end of the penultimate episode, Monica made a deal with Oscar to get what she wants (information on the man who wants her dead) and agreed to help him escape from prison. “Monica and Oscar are often the smartest people in the room, which is the best thing in a villain. You want them to be scary because yes, they might be psychopaths, but at the same time they’re also super clever,” executive producer Alexi Hawley tells TV Insider. “I think that makes them really dangerous and they also, as actors really walk this great line of living in the villainy, but in a way that doesn’t feel broad or heightened. They play very grounded versions of these characters in a...

It’s another Jon Stewart Monday over at The Daily Show today, but the rest of this week will see Michael Kosta take the reins for the fourth time.
Kosta’s first Tuesday-through-Thursday hosting stint came in late February. In mid-March, he spent another week at the helm alongside correspondent Desi Lydic. He returned for another solo run in April.
Kosta will host by himself again this week, making him tied with Lydic and contributor Jordan Klepper for most weeks hosted this season .
Kosta’s guest on Tuesday will be journalist and author Sebastian Junger, promoting his new book In My Time of Dying: How I Came Face to Face with the Idea of an Afterlife.
In the book, the war reporter recounts how the closest he came to death was not somewhere on the front lines, but rather when he suffered an aneurysm at his own home.

An amazing run on American Idol that led to him placing runner-up to Abi Carter. History has shown you don’t have to win the singing competition to make it, and the singer from Hazelhurst, Georgia is dedicated to adding to this statistic. The country hopeful was the final audition of the day for the judges just a few months ago. Lionel Richie had to catch a plane and was unable to listen to his whole performance. However, the Hall of Famer could tell within the first few moments of what he could hear of his original “Gone for Good” that the big guy had something. Katy Perry and Luke Bryan agreed. Bachelorette alumni Trista and Ryan Sutter are doing “fine,” despite fans expressing concern over a series of cryptic posts on social media. The posts in question revealed that Trista has been “inaccessible” to their family since before Mother’s Day. On Sunday, Ryan wrote on an Instagram post, “Trista is fine. We are fine. We’re great. Trista is at a place in life where she is searching a bit. An opportunity presented itself that may help her on that quest. With her family’s support, she has taken it. Part of that process means that she is temporarily inaccessible to us.” “I miss her. We miss her,” he added. The day before, the 49-year-old former football player shared a message that expressed how much he missed his wife, accompanied by a black-and-white selfie of himself. “I really wish I could talk to you,” read Ryan’s caption. “Ask you how you’re doing?...
