Why was this made??
29 September 2004
I saw this on its third day of release and can't imagine it will remain in theaters much longer. Crudity, sexual innuendo, and alcohol references make it inappropriate for young girls - the apparent target audience - and the fairy-tale pinnings (from titles to voice-over to predictable treatment) make it laughable for anyone else. The direction is formless and the acting pedestrian; the best performances are from Amerie and Michael Milhoan. Not funny enough to satisfy as comedy; not romantic or suspenseful at all, despite plot devices and digressions such as the "troubled campaign" that clears up so magically after the President asks for his daughter's opinion on an issue. Please. Would it not have been better to let another movie play for an extra week than to invest in this?
