I didn't like what I saw.
15 December 2005
I have seen the film and everybody is happy except one, the evil one and that's my question. Isn't this an anti-Semitic film? Then Jud is an alias for Jew as should be well-known, and he looks like the evil Jew and he acts like the evil Jew in old German propaganda from the 30-ies. Or is it only my imagination? Everyone else is happy and in love and all parts are well played and end up well. There must be a reason why just the one Jud is excluded from the happiness and why he must die. Since I saw "Gentleman's agreement" and read the comments to the film and to the lives of some Jewish actors, I have understood that anti-Semitismus was rather frequent in the 40-ies and 50-ies but I was shocked to find it as open as here. The film gives me a bitter feeling. I hadn't expected it.
