The Calculus Affair (Part 2 of 2)
31 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
After Tintin and Haddock survive one attempt after on their lives, they actually manage to get to Calculus. Though, that's short lived when Calculus is finally kidnapped by Sponsz's goons, just hours before they would leave. Now agents are after Tintin and Haddock again. They learn that they want Calculus for that dangerous super sonic device, which would be used for military reasons. One of the places were they hide is at one of Bianca Castafiore's shows and when there they manage to get their hands on Sponsz's papers which will release Calculus. After successfully getting him out under disguise, a race to the boarder occurs.

"The Calculus Affair" is writer and illustrator Herge's eighteenth comic strip album of "The Adventures of Tintin" and the thirteenth episode (part 2 of 2) of Season 1. This half of the story simply piles on the larger action scenes onto the chase format, which goes hand to hand with the sprightly musical score. It just can't keep still for too long and smothering the air is a rather disquieting mood. This is when Captain Haddock first meets Bianca Castafiore, where the trademark wrong name gags and grinding chemistry kicked off. The characters throughout are well shaped and engaging, and Tintin and Haddock are simply living up the adventure with great ticker and excitement. A very impressive entry, which has heart and stimulation rolled into one.
