The Minx (2007 Video)

A whopping good time
30 May 2007
Linnea Chiang, the heroine of "The Minx", is a "tobacconist by day, punk rocker by night" who can also kick your butt from here to Chinatown. For most of the film's lightning-fast 86-minute running time, she finds herself in scenes that are equal parts action-thriller, comedy, romance and musical. Played by the winning actress Mia Park, you'll find yourself cheering for her by the film's end.

To be honest, there are some technical flaws to "The Minx" (some scenes look a little dark and the sound isn't perfect), but this is to be expected for a movie made on an obvious "shoe string budget". Look beyond these flaws (for which I am subtracting one star) and you are likely to have a whopping good time; what it lacks in production values, it more than makes up for in wit, energy and an infectious sense of fun. Other highlights include a great use of Chicago locations and a catchy score. Highly recommended.
