Uptight Lawyer and Dry Cleaner Meet Cute
7 September 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Sidney (a hot shot lawyer) lets her girlfriend talk her into taking their joint vacation at a bird watching sanctuary. There she meets Harry (a divorced dry cleaner sharing custody of a daughter with his ex-wife who wants to get back together). Harry spills herbal tea on Sidney's expensive pants, trips her up with his camera tripod, and berates her when she can't keeps up with the group hike and because she drinks up his entire water supply (whle randomly falling down the mountain at inopportune moments). Of course, they find themselves as opposites attracting each other, despite misgivings. This is a simple, TV type script but Laurence Luckinbill and Lucie Arnaz (married in real life) have a delightful chemistry that rises above the material. They seem to concentrate on stage work these days but they should consider another movie together. They are a winning combination. Lucie has her mother Lucille Ball's timing with a nice wry delivery of her own and Laurence Luckinbill's cute face and sense of confidence actually makes you root for Sidney to open her eyes and fall for the dry cleaner (instead of continually down the mountain).
