Florida Gore: Dehumanizer

Wow. Not bad. Nothing earth-shattering, but not bad, nonetheless. Film Ranch, the company behind the now legendary Blood Feast 2, brings us old school B-cinema fans yet another epic. A grim, yet colorful throwback to the glory days of the gore flick. A harsh sci-fi-ish Horror that's somewhat reminiscent of the work of Herschell Gordon Lewis. A new school breath-of-fresh-air to the Exploitation world. This is Brainjacked. Welcome back to Florida!!

Well, first of all, I'd just like to point out that Tristan is not a guy's name, and there's simply no way around that. As it would turn out, this obvious fact would be the least of Tristan's worries. You see, this timid little teen has just ran away from an abusive home, and an all around abusive life. Not to mention a lifelong headache Things start to look up once Tristan meets an adorable little chick named Laney, who lures the runaway into a secret underworld which at first appears to be the solution to all of Tristan's woes. The guy that runs/rules this mini-society is a neuro-surgeon who has mastered the art (for the lack of a better word) of Trepanation, which is basically drilling gore-holes in peoples skulls for mental and/or physical relief. So, no more headache, right? This seemingly good-natured neuro-surgeon leaves out the part where he implants a chip in his patients/victims brains, creating an instant slave, which is a mode that can be turned on and of, when ever the "doctor" sees fit. Poor Tristan. This little fellow just can catch a break. But as for us, the viewer, we are in store for a very entertaining, not to mention interesting, semi-original film. And for all you Wynkoop fans out there, that's right. The Legendary Joel D. Wynkoop drops by for a quick visit which ultimately makes Brainjacked all the more epic. Although, an actual role in the movie would have been much sweeter. And if anybody's looking for a decent double-feature, you may want to consider pairing this one up with a movie I saw, recently, called Header. Seeing them both would be the only way To realize exactly how fitting of a double-feature that would be. Whatever the case, see Brainjacked! 6/10
