Warning: Spoilers
"The First Swallow" is a 1942 cartoon by MGM, so his one had its 5th anniversary already last year. Most of the people working on this project are probably not known today anymore like narrator de Cordoba too, but he is really doing a fine job with this 7-minute film we have here and the audio is on par with the video. Even without WB or Disney behind it, you can see the beauty here and the title character is just too cute really. If you google swallows from Capistrano, you will see that there is more to this little film than initially meets the eye. But what meets the eye is especially nice. It's a beautiful little film with lots of harmony and feel-good effect and it is also one of my favorite works from its respective year, not just short film wise. I also liked how it is realistic that the small swallow cannot simply go on the journey sough again and master it after it has healed. There is a lot to enjoy in this one and it is very much on the underseen side if I see how few ratings it only has here on imdb. A glimpse of beauty during the dark days of WWII. Highly recommended.
