Warning: Spoilers
"Intangibles" is easily the least interesting episode of "The Good Doctor" yet, but it was still pretty decent.

So far, Dr. Glassman has strongly encouraged Shaun to become more independent, but he has since suggested Shaun requires a life coach. Personally, I would object, given all the progress he has made thus far. I would especially disagree considering that I believe Dr. Glassman has been holding him back until he has reached St. Bonaventure Hospital, because as soon as Dr. Glassman has encouraged him to step up more, he has delivered. Again, given all the progress Shaun has made, I could certainly understand why Shaun would be insulted by Dr. Glassman's suggestion. Shaun is thriving. Even though it feels late, he has learned many new social skills (i.e., discerning sarcasm, flirting). What is with the sudden need to put Shaun in reverse? What need is there for Shaun to be micromanaged after the big push for him to be accountable for his actions?

The whole ordeal with the misplaced specimen did not intrigue me at all. I was very bored with it, especially since it felt like Dr. Andrews was brought back just for that storyline. (It was later addressed that he was out due to . . . fundraising . . . but for what other reasons will he be absent in the future? And why did no one else mention it while he was gone?) I am sure he will disappear for a few episodes, come back, and repeat, which will become very annoying very quickly. Some might ask why, and the reason being is because his disappearances are very noticeable despite his flat character. He still has yet to feel relevant to the main storyline of the show.

I was taken aback by the fact that Dr. Melendez was uninterested in operating on that kid, even with Shaun's suggestion. He eventually cracks and decides to give it a go but it was like pulling teeth. Despite his skepticism, the surgery ends with great results.

Additionally, it was nice to learn more about Dr. Melendez but I still don't feel attached to his character. The only characters I really am invested in this point are Shaun, Dr. Glassman, and Claire. They are enough to keep me coming back at this point, but for how much longer will that last? I am hoping the supporting characters' stories pick up soon because I am still not feeling it.

By the way, I am loving Lea and Shaun more and more! :o)

Also, what happened to the flashbacks with Steve? I was loving them and it seems to have just been dropped. What was the point of introducing his story so strongly only to drop it? I really don't see what the reason for it at the beginning of the season to now.

All in all, "Intangibles" was rather uninteresting. The most compelling feature was the virtual reality operation Shaun and Dr. Melendez did. I have to wonder, though, why is it only introduced now? It would have been perfect to rehearse other operations in the past. I have to wonder if there really are things like this out there. If there really are gadgets like this out there, it would be amazing to think that this is the future of medicine.

Finally, I am left wondering . . . do patients die at St. Bonaventure Hospital? I mean, of course there was Claire and I know only of a few others, but how many victories can these doctors have? It kind of bothers me. I understand that a patient isn't going to die in every episode, but a patient doesn't live in every episode, either. It feels like some sort of idealistic reality of what medicine should be as opposed to what it really is.

I give "Intangibles" a 7.4/10.
