Rather indifferent

Warning: Spoilers
THE QUEEN OF SHEBA is an early Italian peplum film, telling a Biblical story in black and white and on a rather limited budget. Some nice costumes and a couple of decent sets are the most you can expect from this one. The story is essentially a love story writ large, with the Queen falling for the King of Israel, with the only problem that he already loves another. War ensues, albeit war on a rather small scale. This is a simplistic production, rather dated and stodgy for the modern viewer; the genre wouldn't really pick up until the arrival of HERCULES at the tail-end of the decade.
