Future generations will regard this as a Masterpiece

Warning: Spoilers
For me this film is singing to to the choir, as I'm a Mathematician obsessed with Chess. I wandered into this thinking it was some low-budget waste of time.

The way this film is shot is unique, and I think that the way he has portrayed the pieces influencing the unfolding drama - it's incredible, and I'm sure he'll be copied. The amount of time and effort that must have gone into this frightens me.

I can see how this is a melting pot of lots of different film influences, { Hitchcock, Argento, Bava, del Toro, etc } but at the end of the day I just really loved this film, and found it also very intellectually satisfying.
