Varsity Show (1937)
7/10
Working their way through college
18 May 2020
Broke Broadway producer Chuck Daly (Dick Powell) is persuaded to put on a show at his old college.

Varsity Show is an entertaining enough musical. Dick Powell is his usual charming self, and there's good comic relief from Ted Healy, Walter Catlett and Sterling Holloway. However, it exists in only a cut version, so about forty minutes are missing from the film.

The songs are totally forgettable, but Busby Berkeley's big musical number at the end is quite good. First time viewing. 3.5/5
