Getting the Jean Marc-Vallée vibes
26 October 2020
Big Little Lies and Sharp Objects writer signs again with HBO into this mysterious and well-directed thriller. With the witty and dark cracking jokes, characteristic from Marc-Vallée and of course the particular taste in a perfect casting.

Gotta admit that I have an unfair prejudice of how done I am with Nicole Kidman playing the nicest of them all in a town full of vultures (as I am full of Reese Witherspoon's upper class blonde Karen mom performance in every show) but I always take it back when I start watching the show. Kidman gives me chills with every single thing she does. Also, Hugh Grant fits perfectly into the role and I'm looking forward to seeing what the hell happened to his character. Lily Rabe is, as always, outshining in a very different role from what I'm used to see her portraying.

An appealing opening for what it seems to be an enjoyable, emmy-contender, powerful HBO's and Jean Marc Vallée's miniseries. Let's see if it can get as good as Sharp Objects and Big Little Lies.
