Review of See No Evil

Okay, i have mixed feelings with the show right now. i knew the lawyer was going to be a bomb for the show since i first saw her but i still do not buy this is going to be an easy answer. i feel like the two last episodes are going to have to be fully charged to compensate the slow path the show has chosen for the first FOUR episodes. my suspects are on sutherland's character but as i said before, i don't think this is as easy as a "he did it. jail. lets all go home". david e kelley has managed to make unexpected plot twists that change the whole thing into another one. im hoping it takes the path that Sharp Objects took at the end and drop a big ending cliffhanger. or at least to be as round and fair as Little Fires Everywhere's ending was. the performances are still great. donald sutherland has entered the room and he's hungry for some emmy nominations. hugh grant really does well too, specially at the tv scene. and i'm hoping they consider lily rabe for an emmy nomination even though this is not her best work at all. also, noah jupe does really good and the other kid who plays the victim's son miguel. also a point for the cinematography and directing that managed to take more risky shots and scenarios (like the snow scene). now, about nicole kidman. i know she's a great actress and her performance is much more believable than if any other actress would have played this character. but in a kidman-range parameter, i would say this is (so far) a poor character for her to portray and subsequentially, not her best performance at all. i feel like david e. kelly loved her work in big little lies and gave her a very similar character with a different hairstyle and a way less interesting storyline. she can do better but most importantly, she can be offered better. i would've loved if the roles were inverted and kidman played rabe's character and viceversa. to sum up, a great episode but i want to see way more than that in the last few episodes remaining. i want more action. more david e kelley. more nicole kidman.
