Les copains (1965)
8/10
The magnificent Seven
7 July 2021
Les copains d'abord, as George Brassens's tune is heard all through the movie. I didn't know this movie directed by Yves Robert, but it's a must, these seven friends attacking strongly army, church and history in 3 outrageous and so funny projects. And so many more funny scenes with virtuoso editing, split screen, panoramic... Philippe Noiret is fabulously impressive with his great voice (see his main unforgettable sketch ), Pierre Mondy is top-notch in his authoritarian character sketch, and Jacques Ballutin is the best surprise in his quick but so surprising sketch. And so many funny scenes as the hotel. Yes, Yves Robert was a master in comic movies, he is not to be forgotten.
