Under the Skin (I) (2013)

It may have been good, but...

Normally, I don't like to review movies if I don't have much good to say about it, but this one is so divisive I had to add my two bits.

This movie isn't great. In fact, it's really boring and there's not much of a story or a conclusion.

Normally, I like some arthouse movies, especially when they are science fiction or fantasy, and this one had my interest.

Unfortunately, there is so much repetitiveness and a ton of story gaps in this that I think it's just plain sloppy and boring.

Things happen without explanation, and the camera angles are so poor as to not even know what is going on, so in the end the scene is completely pointless.

I get that some "arthouse" movies are given extra credit, and I did give this one two extra stars for that because it's breaking traditional molds.

My issue is that it breaks so many molds to completely shatter it into something useless and unrecognizable.

Scarlett Johansson and the soundtrack were the only good things in this movie. The camera work sucked, the editing was non-sensical, the story was non-existent, and the ending did nothing to illuminate the meaning of the entire movie - therefore rendering it pointless.

I hope someone, or no-one, takes this and inspires the next great sci-fi movie. It could either be great, or completely waste people's time.
