You're Bacon Me Crazy (2020 TV Movie)

For the love of food trucks

This is the first time I've seen a Hallmark that is mainly about food trucks... no really. I think there's been a few movies that have a food truck, or two, but not for the main course. Cleo (Hall) is a woman who runs an Italian sandwich truck in Portland, Oregon, and a guy named Gabe (Rady) comes back to town and his truck is just as good as hers and his main ingredient is...you guessed it. Now there is a real competitor and the whole situation wakes her up to reality in many ways. A romance buds from this competition, and even an actual competition comes to town, and may the best truck win $100,000.

I think the leads are great actors usually, and in this film the food looks amazing, but is not showcased enough for us to really get the juices flowing, so we are left with a deficient plot. There is nothing special or original in this other than the concept of food trucks. Otherwise this is the same as a dozen films, but instead of a gingerbread, or baking competitions, it centers on food trucks. The rudimentary side stories don't satisfy my appetite for a good Hallmark romance at all, and the attitudes of the leads could use some adjustments. They are spiteful (mainly her) and childish. They need growth, and it's just not a very interesting film. I'll not return to "You're Bacon Me Crazy" anytime soon, because it's bacon me yawn.
