As my title suggests, this film is much too similar to Searching. It is not a sequel and is almost a remake, actually, with the director of Searching getting a writing credit for this. With any thriller of this kind, I think it really comes down to how far is too far and can the filmmaker keep the plot together. Well, there's definitely some moments here where you really have to suspend disbelief and also some very heavy handed clues. I think ultimately Searching is a better movie because the plot is more tight but this movie does have some enjoyable elements. A few characters are quite interesting and form unique friendships, with even a bit of charming comedy thrown in. I'd like to give the film credit for all the use of technology but we saw this in Searching, Kimi, and even the Scream remake. All in all, it is at least entertaining, if not original and a bit silly.
