The Godfather: Overrated Not a Masterpiece
18 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
In my personal view, "The Godfather" is an overrated film. Yes I am among the minority who did not like the film. This just did not connect with me.

The acting performances of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino were very good, that sort of impressed me. I did not like the script. There are lot of sequences which I felt was irrelevant to the storyline. The pacing was slow, which some might argue as artful but for me it was slow like a snail. Felt storytelling to be somewhat OK. The background score by Nino Rota managed to impress me. The Dialogues were well written which somewhat came as a relief for me.

For me, "The Godfather" was a mixed bag where acting performances, background score, and dialogues impressed me. But dissatisfied with the script, screenplay, narrative, pacing, and storytelling. For me this is not a masterpiece film rather I would argue it as a film of missed oppurtunities where brilliance existed in isolated pockets but failed to engage me. I would rate this a 4 out of 10, and declare it as a below average

Rating: 4/10 Verdict: Below Average.
