This for me was the weakest episode of the rebooted 'Frasier' so far, but it still had a lot going for it.
The benefit of having none of the original supporting cast around is that it truly feels like Frasier's 3rd act, and we can see how the character has developed as his life has progressed. So it's nice that the worry he had for his father going away on jobs as a policeman now has manifested itself towards his son who is a fireman.
Thankfully this episode doesn't fall into the standard sitcom 'preparing for a pub quiz' format, and actually ends up being quite a touching tale of Frasier and Freddy building on their relationship.
The humour does go a bit broad in the fire department scenes, and all of Freddy's co-workers feel a bit like cardboard cut-out/sitcom standard character tropes, but on the whole this was good fun.
I do wish they'd find something more for the character of David to do though.
