Midnight in Paris is a 2011 romantic fantasy-comedy film written and directed by Woody Allen. The movie follows Gil Pender, a successful Hollywood screenwriter who is engaged to Inez, a wealthy and conservative woman. Gil is struggling to find inspiration for his novel and is feeling unfulfilled in his life.

The story takes place in the present day, but Gil's imagination takes him back to the 1920s, where he meets famous artists and writers, including Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Pablo Picasso. Gil becomes enamored with the city and the era, and he begins to spend his nights traveling back in time to the 1920s, where he meets Adriana, a beautiful and charming woman who is also from the past.

As Gil becomes more and more entrenched in his fantasy world, he begins to question his relationship with Inez and his life in the present. He starts to see the flaws in his fiancée and the emptiness of his own life, and he begins to realize that his idealized vision of the past is not as perfect as he thought.

Meanwhile, Adriana becomes increasingly distant and detached, and Gil begins to understand that she is trapped in her own nostalgia for the past. He realizes that his love for her is not enough to save her, and he must make a choice between his fantasy world and his reality.

In the end, Gil decides to return to the present and break off his engagement to Inez. He chooses to stay in the present and focus on his own life and his own writing, rather than chasing after his fantasy of the past. The movie ends with Gil sitting at a café in Paris, surrounded by the beauty and magic of the city, but with a newfound appreciation for the present and a sense of purpose and direction.
