Fallout: The Beginning (2024)
Season 1, Episode 8
7/10
shoehorned too much into the finale

Warning: Spoilers
This series stared off very strong but by the midpoint, seemed to be faltering. It's still well worth watching but I think the mystery was more fun than the explanation and the finale takes the air out of the balloon somewhat.

Kyle McLaughlin is the least credible villain I've ever seen. I don't think he's got it in his acting DNA to play the role they've handed him.

I also don't buy Cooper's wife being so horrifyingly amoral that she'd advocate nuking the world for the benefit of corporate profits. I get that they want this to be a savage anti-capitalist satire but that's veering into implausible cartoon land.

Now that most of the explanation is done and the mystery is gone, I'm not sure these characters are compelling enough to maintain my interest through further adventures. Walton Goggins, sure. If they were all at his level, it would hardly matter what the storyline was.
