Doctor Who: Day of the Moon (2011)
Season 6, Episode 2
8/10
Sums up a lot of the Moffat era

Warning: Spoilers
This two parter feels like a microcosm of the whole Moffat era, such an amazing set up to a story with an intriguing mystery, but which isn't quite satisfied by the ending. Moffat seems to do too much in the beginning and tries to be too clever. He can make a story so intriguing and so epic to the point that I often feel like the ending doesn't tie up everything in a good enough way. The impossible Astronaut is a 9 or 10/10 episode, I love it, and while I enjoy Day of the Moon I don't think it reaches the levels of the first part and is more of a 7 or 8/10. I felt exactly the same about the Pandorica Opens (10/10 imo), but the Big Bang, while still good, just isn't a satisfying conclusion to the previous episode and the series arc as a whole. In series 6 this opening two parter is a great set up for the rest of the season and A Good Man Goes To War is one of the best episodes in 11s era, but this is followed up by Let's Kill Hitler and the series ended with The Wedding of River Song which I think are close to being bad episodes and feel like such wasted potential for what could have been the greatest Doctor Who series. In short Day of the Moon is a good episode which left me feeling slightly disappointed after the amazing previous episode, much like a lot of Moffats time as showrunner.
